emoticon Del Monte has peach cups only 30 cal each, packed in water, still taste sweet. Sugar free gum, anything Skinny Cow they have chocolates and ice cream that is low fat and low cal and great! Frozen yogurt instead of ice cream. Those are a few things I have when I want something sweet.

I eat mini desserts in the evening when my sugar craving hits. I have found strongly flavored items like Tic Tacs (1 cal) or jelly beans are great for this. Jelly Belly jelly beans have so much flavor that if you eat them one at a time and slowly they really make you feel like you've had something. I also chew gum or gumballs (10 cal each) Walden Farms chocolate syrup has NO calories and Hershey's chocolate syrup is only about 50 per Tablespoon. Add this to some plain club soda and you can almost imagine it to be a chocolate ice cream soda! Add a little milk or Almond milk too. I agree tea is great too. Especially "Market Spice Tea" heavy deep flavor of cinnamon and orange and it's sweet without calories. It costs a little more but it hits the sugar cravings where they live.

This works for me: other people in my house eat jam, so there's usually a jar open. I take a clean teaspoon and help myself to a spoonful. I eat it slowly, make it last, usually does the trick!

I have been eating jicama, that large brown lumpy round thing that is sometimes called a Mexican potato. It is a vegetable, but it tastes like a fruit. It is not bad...crunchy like an apple and somewhat sweet. Some people put lime juice on it, some like salt or sugar on it, but I eat it plain. The first time I had it was when it was sprinkled on a salad.

I like a thin slice of Angel Food Cake with a large amount of some kind of fruit. Always keep frozen on hand but fresh is always better. A dab of Splenda just to get a little more of sweeter taste.

My mind not only wanders, it sometimes leaves completely.

I've got three recommendations based on the texture you want. If you want smooth and creamy, take a half cup of non fat plain Greek yogurt and mix in a half cup of mandarin oranges. I also sprinkle a little Truvia and juice in, too. Nice summery treat. Or, take a smidge of peanut butter -maybe a teaspoon and put it in a dessert cup. Microwave it a little to spread around some. Then slice up half a banana and add that. Drizzle a little chocolate syrup on it. Top with favorite yogurt about a half cup and maybe a little cool whip or whipped cream. This a little high in calories but it is a nice treat and it is fruit and yogurt.

If you want crunchy, do a bowl of cereal preferably a low sugar granola -just a small amount 1/4 cup with milk in a dessert cup. I am trying to master this weakness myself. It is really hard especially when you live with people who can eat whatever they want! Good Luck

Fruit, especially frozen! Cool Whip™ is pretty "cheap", nutritionally. I eat that.
Gelatin (although not the SF.. because it's sweetened with aspartame. I'd rather have the tiny bit of real sugar than the toxins!)
I have some sucralose-sweetened candies that are good (Crystal Light™).
Or popsicles.

Sliced strawberries with Rachel Ray's balsamic reduction drizzled over top. Trust me, the tartnesses of the two combined actually brings out a sweet flavor reminiscent of chocolate syrup. Very satisfying.

My aunt is a registered nurse and she told me to eat a dill pickle when craving sweets. I have to admit, 90% of the time it really works. The other 10% I will eat a small amount of whatever I am craving (or think of a healthy alternative) or a 1/2 cup of fiber enriched cereal (usually the chocolate one) with skim milk.

oh yeah i love a good salty fat any day. I have been trying to analyze or pinpoit exactly what is the craving. I am 89% sure most of my craving are centered around texture. when i want something its the texture of it. ex : cheesy, crunchy, smooth etc. if i can pinpoint the texture i want then i can decide if there is a healthy version of it or do i go without or do i just have it anyway and go without real food lol

I like to blend unsweetened vanilla almond milk with frozen fruit. Leave it thick for ice cream consistency. You can also add protein powder or greens for added nutrition. Frozen bananas and peach slices make the smoothest consistency, no seeds.

I LOVE some of the Atkins bars if you are craving candy. Sometimes i just have to have a chocolate bar especially when i see them in the vending machine at work staring me right in he face. I find that the atkins peanut butter cups are very close to a reces and the peanut roll is like a baby ruth and they have an m&m like candy too. it def hits the spot. they do have aroung 170 calories but if you are going to reach for a candy bar anyway id give it a try for half that calories a little protein and a lot less sugar usually only 1 or 2 grams

My favorite is Simply Lite Dark Chocolate. It's sweetened with Maltitol. I get the bars at Trader Joe's for about $2 a piece. A couple of bites satisfy my sugar and chocolate cravings without triggering my sugar addiction. I always make sure I have one or two bars in the pantry- just in case!

You can buy them from Amazon, but they're more expensive: http://www.amazon.com/Simply-Lite-Chocolate-Almonds-Ounce/dp/B0079OPZFK/ref=sr_1_5?s=grocery&ie=UTF8&qid=1400621402&sr=1-5&keywords=simply+lite+dark+chocolate

I am on a plan that strictly limits sugar, and even foods that easily turn to sugar (no grains, potatoes, only allowed a few fruits, no sweet veggies like corn, carrots, sweet potatoes, etc.), but having gotten used to that I find that I taste the sweetness in lots of foods that we normally don't think of as sweet, like raw walnuts & almonds. So those things will sometimes satisfy my craving. I am allowed to have Granny Smith apples, and I love baked apple chips made from those with nothing added except maybe some cinnamon. I am allowed to have stevia or xylitol as sweeteners, so sometimes I'll make black bean brownies sweetened with xylitol. I have a great recipe I enjoy with coconut milk, cocoa & xylitol blended together, then I stick it in the freezer until it is thickened. Tastes like chocolate mousse, yum!

If I can't eat fruit before it's going to "expire," I freeze it--berries, banana--and then puree it, with a little water or unsweetened juice, if needed. A minute in the mini food processor, I scoop it into a bowl and add a tablespoon of almond butter, which I don't mix in but eat a little at a time with the fruit "sorbet."

So many good options! Many or most I have tried.

My favorite is the frozen fruit (I especially like strawberries, pineapple, banana, peaches) and yogurt/cool whip (free). Sometimes I leave it chunky and other times I 'smoothie'.

I also like frozen orange slices blended with orange diet soda and ice. -- mostly a summer treat.

I like the frozen grapes and banana slices too! Great dipped in a homemade dark chocolate sauce (sweetened with agave or other sweetener) Yogurt can also be made into a sweet dipping sauce for fruits also.

If I am craving a particular 'bad sweet choice' like ice cream or a piece of cake, I always try and eat a 'safe' choice (an apple or peach or . . .) FIRST which takes the edge off the craving and seems to change my craving sensors in my brain . . . then, if I still want the cake (or other bad choice), I take go ahead and take few bites, but usually by the time I've eaten the apple or other wiser choice, I am satisfied and don't want the bad choice.

Wiggle room on my weight! Getting consistent with exercise tipped the scales . . . in a good way~just don't think I need to lose any more--just get firm and fit!

I will eat a small portion of something sweet. No diet or sugar free products. I don't like them.

I used to eat these weight watchers cakes. One time I was outside and I dropped one. Even the stray dogs and raccoons wouldn't touch the thing. It stayed there for days. So I now refuse to eat those diet frankenfood type things.

Made it to my maintenance weight of 125 pounds.

Even though I have reached goal. I still don't know everything about weight loss.

I am on a sugar buster, and I'm always craving something sweet. So I found this very low sugar treat that is very easy and yummy! All you have to do is melt peanut butter in the microwave, and some cool whip mix it up and it's done!

A cup of tea with a few spoonfuls of honey does it for me.

I take 2 T of plain fat free Greek yogurt and mix it with a 1 tsp of Splenda then I either cut up fruit (pineapple, strawberries, etc) and put it in the freezer for about 10 minutes. The yogurt takes a thick, sweet consistency. I also do half of a low calorie muffin (or another breakfast treat) cut up in pieces instead of the fruit. The yogurt gives it an icing consistency making it taste and feel like I'm having a piece of cake with icing. It's all about portion control too.

I put frozen fruit and one portion of liquid protein drink into my bullet blender. It makes two 8 oz servings to share with someone! Me and my hubby have this after dinner often.

Life would be much more upbeat if there was just background music no matter when or where you were doing things.

Hot chocolate or chocolate milk are usually good for me for chocolate needs. I also love all sorts of fruit!

I like to keep whole oranges in the frig...my big treat is to take a knife and peel them removing the pith..chop up and put in a bowl...sprinkle 1 measuring teaspoon of sugar on top..and stir...I love the ice cold juice and the grit of the sugar...and depending on what your calorie or carb level is for the day you can have more than one...no sugar at all...then sweet leaf orange stevia drops will sweeten up too...but there is something about the texture of the grit..maybe it reminds me of the sugar sweetened cereal leavings at the bottom of the bowl....

this same orange chop is awesome on top of a bowl of hot oats, sprinkled with sliced almonds..and a drizzle of honey...one of my favorite meals before a long distance event.

Dried pineapple is pretty sweet. Just read the label and make sure it doesn't have any added sugar or chemicals.

I think it depends on what nutritional plan you're on, and what level of "sweet" is satisfying to you.

For myself, gelatin is perfectly sweet. If you make small containers, or buy the pre-made paks, you get a limited portion and it's sweet enough (at least for me). I like frozen fruit, too ... although I have to be careful and limit the portions on those as well, since I can't have that many sugars and I'll get totally carried away with a bowlful of frozen grapes. I make my own gelatin - I have some restaurant-style disposable souffle cups that hold 5 ounces... so I portion that amount of fruit into those cups when I freeze them. Then I have to make a conscious decision to go get another one, rather than just bulldoze through a whole bag of them. Many fruits are delicious this way: melon, berries, bananas, probably some I've never even tried!

If you're a chocoholic - I've found that one piece of 72% (or higher) dark chocolate will satisfy a crave. The serving size on the brand I buy is 3 pieces, but one is all I want - especially if I don't just chow it down but let it melt slowly. I'm not all that crazy about chocolate though (I know - heresy!), so it may not have the same level of satisfaction for others.

Sometimes just a glass of sugar-free drink is sufficient. I try to be careful to avoid the ones made with aspartame. There are ones made with sucralose (the only sweetener our endocrinologist permits us). I know it seems sort of juvenile - but Kool-Aid (and store brands of the sort) can be sweetened with sucralose; I've also picked up some erythritol I'm going to try out. Please read the labels for all the other sugar-free drinks out there (like most sodas!), because way down there in the long artificial ingredient list, you'll likely find aspartame. And that stuff is simply toxic.

I'd love to be able to offer thoughts like yogurts, et al... but we're on a prescribed restricted-carb diet, and one little cup of yogurt eats up my entire day's allottment. I love it, but can't go there. I was trying a bit of kefir (which I love), and also the "baby" yogurts... but they're still too high for our nutritional plan. Alas.

Good luck finding a solution that works for you!

...the problem with people these days is
they've forgotten we're really just animals ...
(attributation forgotten)

We did not create the web of life; we are but a strand in it.
