i don't mind eggs but it's faster to put greek yogurt or cottage cheese and unsweetened applesauce in a container to take to work. i add dry cereal when i get there. my question is which is the lesser of two evils...the salt in the cottage cheese or the sugar in the vanilla yogurt? the plain is just too tart and i don't use artificial sweeteners.

Almost every day I have the same thing - an all natural sausage with no additives, non GMO, a carrot and 2 cups of greens. (I put it all in a pot in a steamer basket and do the other things I need to do while it cooks. Then I put sauerkraut on the sausage on the plate to get the probiotics I need. A pat of organic butter on the greens and carrots. It is under 500 calories and filled with good nutrients and lasts me for quite a few hours. It is my favorite meal of the day. I am egg and dairy intolerant and severely limit my grains..

There are some simple recipes on how to make your own protein bars that are easy to make then grab and go. The key is you need a base, like oatmeal, ground flaxseed or protein powder, then something sticky like dates, a nut butter or honey and then you can add in whatever extras that will entice you to eat them like shredded coconut or dark chocolate, an extract or almonds. Its very simple and usually no bake. Hope that helps, best of luck!

I've eagerly read all the posts because I've gotten bored of the three breakfasts I eat. (Eggs/english muffin/sugar free peach jam, greens and Egg Beaters, or greek yogurt/fruit/chia seeds)

So what's a good protein powder? What's tasty in oatmeal or a smoothie? Anything that people say "stay far, far away from this one"?

Oatmeal (for me gluten free oatmeal) packet made with water.
1 oz = (24) almonds
1/2 grapefruit

Total 15 g protein.

This is what I had for breakfast, and with the protein in the oatmeal and almonds, and fiber in all three it really fills you up.

Every passing minute is a another chance to turn it all around.

To the last couple people who posted, can we keep this on topic for high protein breakfasts?

While Kashi cereals, beans, and peanut butter on toast are all decent, filling options for breakfast they are not high protein. More like good whole grains (carbs) with a bit of supplemental protein in there.

One of my go to non-eggy breakfasts is 1 cup low fat cottage cheese with 1/4 cup oats. Very filling with under 300 calories and 30 grams of protein. Then add a little of what you wish to flavor. Fresh fruit, applesauce or canned pineapple. Sugar free maple syrup and cinnamon is one of my favorites. I've also added canned pumpkin and microwaved with pumpkin pie spice and its like pumpkin pudding for breakfast. Possibilities are pretty endless.

If you can make time to cook in the morning, try tofu scramble--lots of recipes on the internet. I lightly steam (microwave) about a cup of vegetables (usually sweet onion, red pepper, asparagus, yellow squash); dump them into small nonstick skillet; add a serving of mashed extra firm tofu; sprinkle with tumeric for color, and scramble till hot. I like to add a little Asian chili sauce.

Life choice has protein bars that are 190 calories and 20 grams of protein. Chocolate mint flavor is delicious. This may not be a balanced breakfast in itself so add some fruit or oatmeal, but they are great and satisfying and also good afternoon snack too.

Also my new favorite breakfast is chobani Greek nonfat yogurt mixed into oatmeal with frozen blueberries. Chobani nonfat is 23 grams of protein for 8 oz ( although you prob won't have 8 whole oz if you mix it into oatmeal) but it is a great filling source of protein.

A peanut butter/flax hot cereal type thing is good for keeping full long into the morning. granted, its more of a low carb high good fat, but it also comes with plenty of protein.

Microwave 1/4 cup ground flax meal mixed with 1/2 cup water for about 1:30
Add a bunch of cinnamon :) I love this taste
add two T peanut butter and mix up

Very delicious and very filling.

There is absolutely NOTHING that says you have to eat breakfast foods for breakfast.

If you eat meat, eat meat. Eat leftovers from the night before. You need protein... and some of us cannot eat (much) nuts, or (readily-converted to Sugar) breakfasts without problems. So... Go ahead and eat some of what you had leftover from dinner. Just do it....

I like to have turkey burgers (without the bun), and a massive salad; or crockpot stew/soup. Don't forget that having "dinner" meals at breakfast time is what gives you energy for the rest of the day.
