I'm 24 with a high cholesterol. Mine is genetic though (I've always had high cholesterol for as long as I can remember). I don't know if it's true, but I've been told that since mine is genetic, it is not as dangerous?? I hope that's true... I don't want to have a heart attack at 24! It will be more difficult for him cause most guys love their meat, but maybe small things like cheerios or oatmeal for breakfast, lots of exercise/running, incorporating more fish for dinner vs. steak, etc. And like mentioned below, avoid butter! And probably try to eat at home more since you know exactly what you are eating and how it was prepared.

Does he WANT to change? Hopefully he wants lower cholesterol enough to change some of his picky habits. If not, there's not much you can do.

Nothing wrong with the pasta at all! Switching to wholewheat will give more fibre though.

Chilli? Make with ground turkey not beef (dont tell him, bet he wont notice!) Cook with only a teaspoon or so of mono-unsaturated oil like olive oil... switch to using olive oil or canola (rapeseed) for anything.
Dont use animal fats like lard, dont use butter.

Cheese... well hard cheese.. thats full of saturated fats and honestly isnt good at all for maintaing chlolesterol levels. Thats maybe something he is going to have to look at seriously reducing.

Ok so my husband had to go get a physical done before he could go back to work and we found out his cholesterol was WAY high. Since he is only 23 this scares me.

He is such a picky eater and so I'm not really sure how to help him adjust to a healthier way of life.

What's some good substitutes for more fatty foods? He is a big pasta eater.. And he loves chili and cheese.

Any help would be appreciated. :)
