So far it's been 1.5 weeks and I KNOW why. * I'm eating as though I've reached my goal weight * I'm not exercising as much as I did initially. I used to hike twice a week, jog three times and weight train on three days. Now I jog four days a week and do the Shred twice a week.
I need to at least go back to strength training the way I used to do and then get control over my food again.

I just started 7 weeks ago and have lost 22 pounds in the first 5 weeks - but have not moved in the past 2 weeks.
I haven't changed my calories, and am exercising more lately. Any suggestions?

For me, the longest has been 2 months. Post baby, it is difficult to lose the weight at a normal rate.. ad to that a thyroid condition that makes both your metabolism and you sluggish, it gets frustrating.

Funny you should ask that. Even though I have been a member of Spark Team for over a year now, I haven't even logged in since around February of this year. I just had so much other stuff going on in my life--job loss, financial issues, divorce, that I lost my sense of ambition. So, I guess you would say about nine months this time around. But I wouldn't say that's the longest plateau that I have ever hit. I once lost close to 100 pounds, then when the stress hit again, I gave up. I would say most of my adult life has been a cycle of plateaus, passion, ambition, drive, then a long spell of just not caring anymore. But now I realize that changing me is not just about weight loss. It's about changing me emotionally, mentally, AND physically!

Every pound is a struggle, it takes me a month just to lose 1 pound. Sometimes I gain 3 then lose one, or lose 1 and keep it there. I have been on Spark People, almost a year, and have only lost 13 to 14 pounds. Getting frustrated, but I will not give up.

My longest was 10 weeks. It happened after I had lost 50 lbs over the course of a year. At the time I was over training and not eating enough. Once I found balance again the weight started coming off again. Sometimes our bodies just need a break or we need to re-adjust what we're doing. Sometimes going back to square one and taking it slow helps.
Stuck right in the middle of a 2 month dry period, don't know what to do!

This is my longest plateau yet. I just can't seem to find the desire to do the nutrition tracker. It seems like I'd be motivated since I'm only 5 lbs away from losing 50. I am glad that I have maintained, and I am hopeful for the future.

I've been at my current plateau for a long time. I always seem to lose and then gain it back. Luckily, I never go over a certain weight, but it sure would be nice to be able to get if off and KEEP it off for once!

I have been at the same weight for about 2 months. I have played with my diet and changed up my cardio/lifting routine and things seem to be changing. Double check to make sure you are getting enough good fats (PB, Avacado, etc).

Three weeks. The reports page is very helpful with this. Look at your calorie differential over time and see if you can spot the problem. I had slacked off on my cardio but was still eating the same. As soon as I bumped up my calories burned again I lost another pound.

I've stayed at my starting weight for 2 months before I started losing weight. It was dissapointing at first because i was working out everyday and changing my diet, and still no weight loss, but i still had to make more changes in my diet and exercise before i started losing weight. I found out that 1200 calories was too much for me, once i started reducing it to 900-1100 i started losing weight.

I have been losing and gaining the same 5 lbs since JULY. So 4 months. It sucks. And i'm about to break through that plateau if it kills me!
I lost 18 pounds then spent 6 months at being at 150. I was starting to give up, but just finally this week moved lower.

It's been four long months for me, but I've finally broken through it. All I can say is, it can be discouraging, but keep to your plan, switch your exercises around some, drink lots of water. I did try to up my calories a tad, but I gained a couple of pounds and after talking to my dietician, I tried going down about 150-200 calories per meal and that seemed to be my trigger. So all I can say is keep at it! It will happen at some point.

It's hard to say. I've been at the same weight or plus 2 pounds for 3 weeks. However, I've been working out more, and my waist has gotten smaller.
If you're exercising too, it's hard to distinguish between weight loss and muscle build up. I focus on whether my stomach is getting smaller, because that's where most of the health risk lies.

Having lost 2 stone before joining, losing 6 pounds with SP, I am still at this weight and have been so since August. Also, in despair from trying the SP diet which has far too much carbohydrate for me, I have just returned to the Hay Diet, which is food combining, and am refreshed with more energy; also what is recommended here is that I do not eat unless I am hungry, and so am very much the better for it. I wonder, is anyone else food combining? My cholesterol is high - could this be one of the causes?

I don't know that I've ever really been at a platau. My weight generally stops moving because I've stopped working out or eating right, or both. Always my fault. But when the scale stops moving for too long, it can be just the kick in the pants that I need to get moving again.
Two great quotes by Eleanor Roosevelt:
No one can make you feel inferior without your consent.
In the long run, we shape our lives and we shape ourselves. The process never ends until we die, and the choices we make are ultimately our responsibility.

I have averaged since my 13 pound weight loss 12 months ago at 138 pounds for 7 months. Regularly, I have increased my strength training and diversified my cardio while eating according to the nutritional chart tallied up for me by spark people. Great online resource but not great calculations. I spoke to a trainer and nutritionist and I was told to eat 900-1100 calories per day, 100-120 carbs, 130-160 protein, and 25-35 grams of fat. Spark People planner calculated dietary numbers for me that were too high. I thought at one point that I was going to have to eat at MacDonald's in order to meet their nutritional criteria. It was a set back. Additionally, their nutritional info is wrong for a significant amount of foods that are listed already to enter. I now without fail add my own. Entering accurate data has proved to be effective because I now know exactly what I am putting into my body. Proper nutritional knowledge and facts, subsequently, led to my eating smaller portions of healthy high fat high calorie foods. I think this online aide is fantastic, don't get me wrong, but be careful and check to make sure the nutritional info is accurate. You may be eating more then you think.
Furthermore, I believe multiple factors aid in prolonged resting points. For Instance, weight gain or plateaus in weight loss may be related to even old or newly prescribed medications; stress or depression, thyroid problems, food allergies, water weight, decline in healthy eating habits, alcohol intake, not enough exercise, or your body type and genes. So many more possibilities as well. This is what frustrates me. It takes time to figure it out.
I am a 32 year old white female that is 5 ft 6 and weighs 138-140. I am active and I eat 900-1300 calories per day. My goal weight is 125. I work out 6 times a day: swim for 30 -35 minutes, weight training 4x per week for 45-50 minutes. Additionally, I take yoga classes 1-2/week.
Let me know if you have figured it out. I will let you know more once I have. I approximate that it will take me 9 months to meet my goal. Sucks but better then being 151. Progress not perfection, right?

Key word "sitting". Not a plateau if your not moving. Plateau, diet & still no budging, thats a Plateau. No change on the scale or inches- longest has been 4 months. I have health issues that I know contribute to my plateau, just haven't been able to pin point it yet.

4 or 5 months! But I know why I wasn't losing weight. I let the craziness of life get in the way, and I wasn't putting enough time in at the gym and I could have cut back more. I am proud I didn't gain any of my weight back during that time, but I do sometimes think about how I could have already reached my goal of 100-pounds-lost.
I'm focused on reaching my goal before the new year. I have the power to not let my plateu turn into 6, 7, or 8+ months. 4 or 5 months was plenty!

The whole wheat flour makes for a dense muffin, which I like. You only need to eat one! If you want a lighter muffin try using whole wheat pastry flour, which is more finely ground and available in the bulk bins at larger grocery stores.
