Since I mostly cook at home and I cook enough to have leftovers for lunch the next day, I pack everything up sooner and get my lunch ready so I know that I wouldn't touch anything in the fridge. After that, I brush my teeth and finish getting ready for the next day.

Get away from the source, so I take a bath, brush my teeth, grab a book, and stay put in my bedroom. That's definitely not as easy in the summer when our days are soooo much longer!

I work 12 hour night shifts and I have a lot of problems with this too. If it's a slow night at work, I often end up getting up for snacks several times. I try to walk the stairs, or go for a walk on my breaks. I spark, or I even read kindle books if I can get away with it.

Well I usually try to just drink water and go to bed...last night I couldn't get rid of that hungry feel so I ate a handfull of grapes and that did the trick.

Hi there,
I think nighttime snacking is such a hard thing to avoid! I work until 8:30 at night so I'm still pretty awake and "ready to eat" I bought some lo-fat ice cream sandwiches that I will save for that moment :)
I'm just starting with SPARK, as I've tried so many other diets, from Dec-Feb I lost 23 pounds and had to have shoulder surgery, which ended up causing me to gain it ALL back! :(
I want this to be the LAST time
Hope having some buddies along the way will motivate me to not quit this time.

I've been eating two cup of non-starchy veggies at lunch, along with another 2 cups of non-starchy veggies at dinner. 2 glasses of water before meals, no empty liquid calories. All my starches are before dinnertime so have not been hungry at all.

The one evening that I was since I was way under calories, I made a frozen dessert out of fruit
(I have a Dessert Bullet and a Ninja) so it's like a sorbet with natural ingredients.

I don't have any food upstairs so if I start to feel peckish at night, I just go upstairs and only come back downstairs if necessary. May not work for everyone, but "out of sight, out of mind" works pretty well for me.

Drink 2 glasses of water. Brush my teeth and then use mouthwash. It can be 7 and I will do this and then do it again before bedtime. I find I won't eat or drink too much after I use that mouthwash.

I try to save some calories so I can have popcorn at after dinner. Or I have fruit. I keep ice cream out of the house most of the time, but my husband loves ice cream bars. So I keep low cal Popsicles in the freezer with his Hagen Daz. I only indulge if I have saved the calories though.

If I am hungry I will eat. I avoid mindless eating at night by keeping busy and staying out of the kitchen.

I try not to eat after dinner. I usually keep my hands busy sewing or on my kindle fire. To me it serves two purposes. One it keeps me busy so I'm not running to the cupboards looking for something and two it keeps me from sitting in front of the T.V. sleeping. Linda

Hi Kathy!

I find substituting bad snacks with good snacks helps! Instead of emoticon have emoticon or emoticon or something like that! I am a junk food junkie so not having them in the house helps and fruits are really sweet! Plus fruits have water in them so will fill you up faster than junk emoticon
