I enjoy it much! I am taking a arthritis swim class in a heated therapy pool at our local Y. All I can say is awww, lol. The only trouble is I can't figure out how many calories is burned in the class. It is low intensity although I do a bit more jogging than most in the class. I mean they are a bit older than I am but goodness can they swim me under the table. haha. It helps keep me moving and I find after a session I am more relaxed. I encourage anyone who likes the water to find a class.
I just love to swim. I have been couch bound for a year and doctors just released me to swim in the therapy pool with the old folks.. I laugh, like I am a spring chicken: 58 to their 70-80's. I too had my knee repaired, no replacement yet. I look forward to when I get strong enough again to go from the class to lap swimming... I guess water exercise is just about my favorite exercise.. have fun out there all you water lovers...
I haven't done a water aerobic class in years. The class I went to was outside, in the summer. I loved being in the outdoor pool, in the sun! All the classes in my area are held inside now, even in summer. It is just too loud & stuffy, inside. However, all the classes I see are very full & the ladies there seem to love them.

Water Aerobics is amazing! I've had both knees replaced and this, plus swimming, PLUS water walking (it is just like it sounds, walking across the pool in the water) have given me back my strength. I'm still working on my "figure" but I love the way water works you out without leaving you so completely SORE the next day. I get sore from any and everything and water aerobics prevents that. We have both shallow water and deep water classes at the pool where I go. It is great!!
The only way you become a good swimmer is get out there and swim. I learn to swim as a teen had not done much since. 4 years ago a y was build and I signed up through my employer. Great because it right across the road. First time in I went a lenght and a halfof the pool, way out of practice. today with several breaks in my weekly routine I now swim 2 and most week 3 time a week for 40 minutes By the end of april I will have reached a Hundred miles oh yes I am 65 in april. I started small 2 lenghts than 4, 6 now I do 40. ONE SMALL STRETCH FOR YOU.
