Ilovetocruise (love the name - I am a cruise travel agent), I have notice there can be some differences in the food lists for FODMAPS but most allow you to eat dairy minus milk, ricotta and cottage cheese. You can eat most cheese and even creamer cause the lactose is mostly eliminated. The one I am struggling with is wheat but it's a new year. I do know my gut is much happier if I follow it though.
Foods that I rely upon the most are low FODMAP. I mainly eat animal protein, eggs and low GI foods. I have eliminated ALL processed foods. That is what has worked for me. Am down 90 pounds and feeling great!
Tried to follow FODMAP and also had a difficult time with it. I also was restricting all dairy and gluten. I looked into the KETO (we have two KETO teams) and that worked well for me. It took some time to adjust and actually enjoyed that style of eating. Did it for several months and lost weight. It is high fat, low carb and low protein plan. There are some vegetables that don't raise the carbs too much that are allowed.
Since attaining my goal weight I have added more carbs and am eating full fat dairy. It is a good way to maintain and enjoy the foods you like. Still don't eat anything processed and use lettuce leaves as the bread for sandwiches.
