I just steam them and mash them with water only, no butter or brown sugar. Just salt and pepper. I add 12 mini marshmallows per 1/2c serving. If you wanted to add flavor, you can make candied sweet potatoes using ginger and orange juice and a little orange marmalade..

Feed your head.

we cut them up and roast them with a little EVO and kosher salt. No one here will eat a sweet potato unless we make them this way!

What would you attempt, if you knew you could not fail?

I put orange marmalade, cranberries & pecans over the top and bake, that is it. Simple and I get many compliments and requests for the recipe, which is rather embarrassing as its so simple! Yo can use sugar free marmalade if you want.

If you want sweet, roast them in olive oil then toss with a small amount of sea salt and honey and orange juice (about 3 Tbps honey and 1 Tbsp orange juice for the glaze after they have been roasted).

If you want more savory, same thing, but add garlic, black pepper, and rosemary during the roasting process.

To roast, cut them into the even pieces (about 1/2 inch cube), toss in olive oil and salt, and spread evenly on a foil lined baking sheet, roast at 400 degrees until tender, about 15-25 minutes, depending on altitude and the oven.

Use nuts as a topping instead of marshmallows. Cut down on the extras you add to the sweet potato - add spices instead - nutmeg, cinnamon, honey. My "go-to" sweet potato recipe is a whipped casserole flavored with spices and topped with a nut strusel mixture.

Any ideas for a healthier version of sweet potatoes for Thanksgiving?
