I don't normally use pizza sauce- I will put a thin coating of olive oil on the crust, season with salt and pepper and crushed red pepper, then layer thinly sliced tomatoes. When it bakes, the juices from the tomatoes (and any other toppings) mix with the oil and seasonings and it makes its own sauce.
I know some folks really love sauce, so this may not be up your alley, but I really enjoy my pizzas this way so I thought I would share.
