My husband bought a ton of crazy protein powder flavors after reading a bunch of reviews on forums.bodybuilder.com. He's got a very popular protein powder cheesecake that he makes, but I have no idea what the recipe is. Bodybuilders are a great source of information about which protein powders to use - and different brands and flavors work better for baking than for making a shake. You might also check out some neat recipe ideas here: www.livestrong.com/slideshow/556857-20-del icious-protein-powder-recipes-that-are -not-shakes/ (I haven't tried flavorless protein powder yet, but you can bet I will!)

There are some interesting Protein drink recipes on the Egg White cartons that we buy. They are pasteurized so there should be minimal to no risk of illness. Dymatize has a great "Pina Colada" protein shake. It is expensive but well worth it. Try using an "Isolate" protein, they seem to be tastier at least to me.

This is the best recipe given to me by my extremely healthy sister and I love it! Taste like Reese's. Skim milk, vanilla protein powder, ice, natural peanut butter, chocolate powder (like the kind you use for baking), and some honey to sweeten. Experiment with the amount of peanut butter and choco powder to your taste but you don't need much!!!

That is interesting. I will have to have a look at the non-fat powdered milk. I'm lactose intolerant but my husband might like it. We hate spending big money each month for protein powder but it's a great recovery "snack" after a workout. Thanks for sharing!

That last comment was a moment. I have read where people were substituting powdered milk for protein powder. I am going to look into to that because it would help me out a lot. Thanks it helps me.

I would look for protein in other sources....I do not like Smoothies at all! and decided if I could find another way to up the protein, I would! I eat a boiled egg about every AM for my breakfast on the go. Nuts, beans and greek yogurt are other good protein rich foods.

I like adding protein powder to my lowfat bran pancake recipe. They're delicious, high in fiber (my little girl calls them "magic poo poo pancakes"), and taste great as a snack straight out of the fridge.

CMARCH50, I use HyVee Chocolate whey protein powder It works well with hot chocolate - Instead of putting my usual 2 scoops of hot cocoa powder, I put one scoop hot cocoa and one scoop of the protein powder. If you wanted to, you could try adding a little soy milk so that the warm soy milk will mask the smell of the protein powder.

You can put it in lots of things. Add it to your morning oatmeal before cooking. Get a fruity flavor and mix some in with your greek yogurt. Things like that. You definitely have to think outside the box. I have a recipe on SparkRecipes for little protein bites. They are really good! recipes.sparkpeople.com/recipe-detail.asp? recipe=1991940 Hope that helps!

I use Nature's Plus Energy Shake. Low carb, gluten free. No sugar and it thickens whatever liquid it is in. I use mine with orange juice and the label says ANY liquid.

Another idea is to write/e-mail companies that make protein powders and ask for free samples. You may also be able to get samples at nutrition stores and hospital pharmacies (esp. those with a bariatric surgery center). Everyone has his/her own preferences and reaction to protein powders and drinks. Did you know that you can get a sports drink-like protein drink (like Gatorade)? Also, Pure Protein makes a 35 g canned shake. Do your research on protein, though. I think the USDA/FDA guidelines are way too high in protein (meat and dairy industry) and carbs (Monsanto...), Too much protein can cause kidney problems among other things.
You are worth it!

Personally, I'd look at finding more lean protein sources as a regular thing and save the powders/shakes/bars for just some days. But, that's just me. My husband drinks at least 2 protein shakes a day and has at least 1 bar! You can add it to your oatmeal or to pretty much any smoothie recipe. You could probably blend it in with some Greek yogurt as well.

Hi, I have a hard time drinking the protein powder shakes. I need them because I don't get enough protein in my diet regularly. Is there any recipes out there that I can incorporate the powder into? Thanks!
