Start swapping you usual buys with their low sodium options. Canned beans, canned tomatoes, soy sauce, peanut butter, butter all have low or no salt options. And definitely start tracking. You'll be able to better see what items are causing the most damage.

The most effective way to reduce your sodium intake is to reduce/eliminate consumption of packaged or prepared foods and to make all meals yourself.

However, doing this immediately might be a tall order!

Start by reading packages and look at the percentage sodium. Track sodium in your nutrition tracker (sounds like you're doing this already!) and track your foods ahead of time so you know how much sodium you're consuming.

Good luck!

I've noticed that lately I've been going over my sodium intake by A WHOLE LOT. And I don't eat fast food and I try to eat really healthy, but it seems like the numbers keep adding up! Does anybody have any suggestions as to what would be good foods/meals that are low in sodium?

Also, what is a high number for sodium? I've always put it as anything over 400 sodium is something I want to stay away from. Is this reasonable?
