I have the same problem. My husband is the best but he does things like bring home my favorite cheesecake or set up a lovely date night with high calorie food and wine. He also is the junk food king. He buys huge amounts of snack food from SAMs club. Right now there are 48 snickers bars in my kitchen because he bought a whole case. I am trying to eat right but it is so hard when the junk is right there. I have no better advice to share than what was already given just wanted you to know you aren't alone.

Thank you for your help, ladies. I will talk with him. I like the writing things out idea. I'll give it a go. I'm already in control of the kitchen, and the husband eats what I serve. We have drastically different calorie needs, so he eats more. But that doesn't bother me. It's all the junk food. I just can't have it in the house. I've asked him to stash it in his "man cave", and not to let me know when he buys it.

Jillry03, that's awesome! Sounds like you have a great man :)

LadyRoscoe, I completely agree with these ladies. A frank talk with your hubby may make all the difference. Even if it doesn't, stick to your guns. You ARE strong enough to say no to the treats! You deserve to feel good, so stick with your plan and eventually he will see how serious you are. You can totally do this!!

I've had the same problem over the last several times I have tried to lose weight!! This time is different I talked to my husband and wrote down all of the reasons why I wanted and needed to lose weight and all of my goals (weight related and non weight related)!! He has always been very supportive but like your husband, he would always give me treats. But since I talked to him he has done a total 360!! I'm not saying that he doesn't slip up and suggest we get junk food or not that he doesn't eat it, but it is not near as often as it used to be!! I would suggest the talk and the writing everything down to anybody!! Good Luck and keep Sparking, that also always helps me!!

I would talk to your husband about your goals and how he can support you. I would let him know that you are limiting treats and don't feel like you can have big bottles of pop, etc right now. Maybe there are non-food ways he can treat you.

You do not have to eat everything your dh does nor do you have to put something in your body just because it is offered. You can control what goes on your plate and into your body.

Healthy meals are good for everyone in your family even if they don't have weight to lose.

I don't know what changes you are making to your diet and how drastic they are but I might start with having the healthy foods your family already enjoys more often. Work on switching to healthier versions of foods- less processed, more whole grains. Work on filling your own plate with more vegetables or fruits. Cook less or freeze leftovers right away. Try to eat smaller portions.

I'm the one on the diet. My husband isn't. He's trim and fit naturally. I don't think he understands how HARD this is. Over the course of my life, I've lost and gained back 200lbs. My goal is to drop 50 between now and next June. And I just can't do it. I used to be able to! I was by myself, my fridge and my kitchen were my own. I cooked for just me.

But now I have a husband to feed. And he does sweet things like brings me a "treat" from work. Yesterday he brought home a big bottle of Dr. pepper. It took all I had to hide it in one of the crisper drawers in the fridge, and it's still calling my name.

How do you ladies do it? I need help.
