Hee..hee...the title of your entry made me laugh. My oldest is starting middle school in the fall too...and I have a elementary aged girl and a preschooler. How can I complain about baby weight when he is graduating from elementary next week....I have got to get on it.

It is hard to be a mother these days. I am a mother of three teenage boys I worry about them all the time. we as mothers have to give the best advise that we know how and trust them that they will listen and pray for them.About Middle School worry that depends on the school itself , my boy went thought a school that i felt kept them safe. My youngest is going into into the last year of middle school. High school is the same way.

I am kissing my weight GOOD-BYE.

Thank you for your post. I think that it is the unknown that I am worried about. I have talked with her about sex and we have a great line of communication. She knows that she can talk me or her daddy about anything. I have decided not to worry until I have something to worry about.

Thank you all for your advise and understanding emoticon

Something I try to remind myself is, "Don't borrow trouble." You don't have anything to worry about yet.

First, you raised this child. YOu have instilled inher your rules, your morals, and she knows them. It is her time to find her own too. It isn't easy, and she WILL make huge mistakes.

My beautiful, smart, talented step-daughter is in 7th grade. She gets good grades. She also screws up.

My husband and I have custody of her. The thing that we ALWAYS try to do is involve ourselves in her life. We show up to her concerts. We pay attention when she talks (and when she doesn't.) THe big thing for me, because her mom isn't a great mom, is that I try to be as loving and nurturing as possible, but also, as open. When she says something that is wrong, I don't berate her. I keep our lines of communication open, and she talks to me. She tells me when she has a boyfriend, and how she cares for him. I support her in this. I also talk to her about sex, love, and everything that makes her uncomfortable, but I do it in short enough increments so that she only has to pay attention about the length of her attention span. So, she comes to me for questions and concerns.

She has gotten into big trouble and little trouble. She has lied, but we also make it clear that she gets in more trouble from lying than if she just told us the truth. And with that, even though it is sometimes hard, we try to practice what we preach!

It is natural for parents to worry a little, if you think it is excessive worrying I would suggest you talk wih your spouse or a trusted friend and maybe see a professional.

My daughter is starting sixth grade next school year, but I'm thinking of unschooling her for a couple years (child-led learning). I've begun unschooling my 7 year old. I think it's not so much worry, but just a pang of sadness to know this little girl that you brought into the world is going to have to face more and more of the world. We want to protect our kids as long as possible. It's hard to let them grow up-but...it's better than the alternative.

I have anxity about her going to middle school, although not as much as when we bought her a cell phone. I tired to talk to my mom about how I was feeling but she says I am crazy and then changes the subject. I don't think I am crazy I am just not ready for my little girl to grow up. The things is I don't really know what I am worried about and that worried me.
