I took Azithromycin when I had strep throat and mono. At first the doctor prescribed penicillin but that didn't do anything, so I was switched to azithromycin which started working almost immediately. I didn't notice any negative side effects when I took it. I wouldn't worry too much about it unless the problem persists and doesn't show any improvement for another week or two, but that's just my opinion!

That is one of the best ones out there for that type of sickness. My whole family has used it a few times over the last few years and it has done it's duty. It worked especially well for my FIL and MIL when they were overseas and got real sick. As far as side effects, most drugs do have some, but I haven't heard of this one having any big issues. Hope you feel better soon.

I question, therefore I think; I think, therefore I am; ........ I think?

Has anyone taken the antibiotic Azithromycin? Did you have any side effects? Did it work for you?

I had the cold/flu so my Doctor gave me Azithromycin in 5 doses. Just took the last pill, feeling a lot better, can breath out of my nose but can't smell! I can taste fine though. It's kind of making me paranoid. Waiting on the nurse to call me back.

Have anyone had this happen with this or any other antibiotic? Did your sense of smell return?
