Hello Dear Friends.
Glad it is almost bedtime!! ;-)

Creative I will pray it will become habit to do first thing so all your weeks will be better!

NanaMom a friend of mine just redid a doll house for her only grand daughter age 5. It is really cute and she did such a good job. Hope you much success with yours!

Faylei what a cute idea to get DS an apron and chef's hat! Sounds like a great school project!!
The Unionate memories make me smile each time I think of them! Glad it was so special for you too!

Ali so glad you are safe at home. Sorry DH has to go to Missouri for a week.

Born so good to see you again!! Hoping the sale goes quickly and easily and no more bumps in the road!

Colleen so sorry about your Great Uncle's death.

Vicki hugs!! My parents taught me to be frugal and DH taught me even more. I think of him often when making choices and trying to figure things out!

GGB hugs!! You have great tips and I appreciate them so much!!
You are right about the DR and rudeness! Many Drs feel threatened with all the push to do things less expensively by insurance but hey, thinking things through better make wiser decisions. Parents have a right to know what and why is happening to their children!

Julie praying that Adam got just the treatment he needed and will be just fine. So sorry the Dr was so rude and impertinent! There was no reason for that!

Stacey so proud of you and your family for working so hard on your budget. Glad vacation worked so well for your family. I will go look at your pics!! Can't wait to see them!! I still love the one of you meeting Barbara and GGB at breakfast!!

Dee glad your toe has healed and foot only has 2 more weeks!! Now to wrap your in cotton. lol Hope you have a great weekend with your DH!!

Good night all!!

Hello friends!

Faylei, have a wonderful time in San Antonio!! We will miss your hugs and visit, but totally understand wanting to get to your destination. emoticon If only we all had the time and money we wanted to do all these fun things. Heaven will be wonderful!!
Thank YOU for such a wonderful Unionate! Mom and I surely enjoyed the time together with everyone. We look back with lots of fun memories. You did an amazing job organizing everything - food, activities, games, lodging and more! Mom and I are looking forward to the next time we can all be together, hopefully next year's Unionate!!

Julie, I'm glad Adam did well through the surgery. How is he today?

Hugs to all of you!

He just asked what the adenoids do and why is it necessary to take them out. He was willing to go through with it but the doctor cut him off and said I will not take them out because of the questions. He also said I never do something unnecessary. That is not what he meant at all. He then moved to the next bed.

When coming to get us, he explained how he was while walking down a hallway with his back to us. When I did not hear him tell me something (because of his back being to me) he replied - I said over here!

I was not happy with his attitude at all. Hubby does not want to follow up with him but instead see someone else. I am not sure if someone else will take him and do the follow up - a different doctor.

Blessings,
Julie

Hi, Ladies!

Julie- Glad the surgery went well. Sorry the doctor was so rude. It's too bad you don't live in Omaha, then my brother could have done the surgery. He is an ENT and is also such a kind, caring man.

Faylei-Jerry was so sweet to be so involved with Unionate. He really hung in there! DS's cooking adventures sound fun. Brett is my cook, he loves to bake. He is getting better about cleaning up his messes afterwards too. Have fun on vacation!

Vicki- Have fun in STL! Wish we were still there to enjoy it with you. Good for you making the kids read. I have always read to my kids and encouraged them to read and now all but Brock love it. Brock prefers to listen to audio books. Brett and Kori read in the car for the whole trip. Hardly heard a peep out of them. The other day, one of Brett's friends said he couldn't believe Brett reads for fun. Brett got his STAR test scores back from school and did really well, especially on the reading....got well above the high achievement score. He laughed and said, "Yeah, cause I read for fun!"

I am appreciating all the money saving tips and encouragment. We are really working at getting out of debt....and have a son going to college this year! Ack! But, we are seeing some progress. We have always tithed. It all comes from God and giving at least 10 % acknowledges that. My biggest downfall is eating out. I really enjoy doing that. We used to eat out nearly every Sunday with the family, but obviously, with at least 6 people (usually more as there is nearly always a friend or two with boys), it gets expensive. We don't do that much anymore or get barbecue or pizza because it feeds a crowd cheaply. I enjoyed vacation because we built money for meals into the vacation budget and since we stayed with family, it saved money and we didn't have to eat out every meal. DH and I often share an entree because they are always too big. The boys even share sometimes.

Blessings,

Stacey

Julie - so sorry for the unpleasantness at surgery. If he really needs his adenoids out, the doctor should have been able to answer a few questions and put you at ease instead of getting upset. Of course, it's hard to know what else that doctor has been through today.

Heidi - are you still doing the squats? I kind of let them go the last two weeks. Want to start doing 50 a day or at least every other day plus the wall push-ups and knee raises.

My oldest DD's 3rd son turned 10 while I was gone. If DH gets off work early enough we are going to take him to Carinos for dinner.

If necessary in the future, we will change doctors. Lynn had a few questions for the doctor about the adenoids. Because of the questions, the doctor refused to do them. So, he just had tubes put in today. Time will tell. Please pray this is enough. Hubby said he was offended (the doctor) but I defended him saying he was just busy due to being an hour behind. When he came to get us I had a change of heart real fast. He was very abrupt and down right rude. So, if he needs work done in the future, we will seek out a new doctor.

I am praying that his adenoids will be fine and not cause any problems. Thanks so much for the prayers!
Blessings,
Julie

Julie - keep us posted. We care
Faylei have fun on your trip and stay safe.

MONEY SAVING TIP - Take a list with you to gro store. Buy only what is on the list. There is a difference in WANTS and NEEDS. Sometimes hard to separate the two when shopping.

We are having breakfast for dinner. Air fried ribs last evening were fantastic. Finally got around to fixing them. GGE is always impressed with my meals even tho I keep it easy.
I love to cook.

Had two bran muffins for breakfast. That man sho nuff knows how to bake. lol

Raining here again today. I thought April showers had passed. Keeping our grass really green though but hard on the farmers. Lots of crops lost to the moisture. Even the strawberries went away quickly.

I am cleaning bathrooms today. not doing much else. House is in order.
I did pickle more boiled eggs in pickled beet juice. We finished the last ones off in a hurry.
Served them with the pork ribs last evening along with cottage cheese. Simple supper but yummy.

Hugs to all and take care of those families and love them even more than they deserve.

Wishing everyone a wonderful FRIDAY and weekend/week ahead! We are on VACATION after today. WHOOO HOOO! We won't actually leave for San Antonio until Sunday late night though as Dd has to work til 10. It'll be Dh, ds and I as well as Dd, her bf and twins all in the RV. We absolutely love Sea World and will be there most of the time but also plan on taking a day for the Alamo, The Riverwalk and then the Outlet malls. We don't have a car to pull behind the RV this trip so doubt we will try to drop in on anyone and say hello this trip. Will catch you the next one when we have a vehicle and smaller group.

Vicki- wishing you a wonderful time with grandsons.

Julie- praying here. Hugs mommy.

Julie, praying that Adam has smooth sailing today!!!

Colleen, I am behind he eight ball but totally agree with the advice and your decision. If he had really known Uncle Henry well it may be different. I think funerals, like Dee said, can be quite tramatic for children. I also agree that parents need to be on the same page and so glad that you and dh were able to work it out between you.

We stopped and got lunch and visited with my mother in KC before heading off to St. Louis. In all my business this week I did not put together a file like I always do for trips. (Barbara and GGB remember my file sitting on the dash!!! lol) So I did not have map quests or hotel address or conf #. We know St. Louis pretty well but lots of construction and lots of turnoffs going over the river. So my phone battery went out and the car battery charger broke. Uuuggghh Dgs did have a phone but his charger was going very slow so we kept having to turn it off to get more juice. So we went in circles twice downtown trying to make the right turn. It one of the circumstances of "that's where we need to be but how do we get there." lol We are actually staying in Cahokia, Ill. at a Comfort Inn. Great prices and still very close to everything we want to do, The boys pretested a little when I said they had to read 1/2 hour before swimming. Mean Gma!!! But Logan started off very poorly and we finshed a 64 page book taking turns and he was actually enjoying it at the end. I brought the first 3 books of the Children's left behind series for older dgs. He started reading and after a few pages said. You didn't tell me this was a Christian book (kind of sarcastically) I said well how is it and he said, okay. Well book one is almost done already so I guess I did okay.

GAli, I probably am also one of those overly frugal types who some people probably think I go overboard but it is just a way of life for me. Some one mentioned feeling rich making $24,000 a year. My highest income in one year has been $20,000. (last year was only $5,000) Dh's highest was last year at $34,000. I truly believe tithing has been the key too. When I was single with 3 children making about $12,000 a year with a $500 mortgage payment I tithed $100 to our Church (the children were then able to attend Catholic School for just fees and books) When I got income tax money back I always gave 10% away before hiding the rest for rainy days. We ate at Taco Tico most Sundays where taco's were 3 for $1 and if you bought the pink cup then drinks were free forever (until the cups fell apart) Dh plumber reminded me of that about a month ago. So the four of us ate and drank for about $3 since we were all small eaters.

By the way Barbara I did buy a bag of 12 socks for $9 this Tuesday so at least I have nice hole free socks for awhile. lol

Night night all.

Hugs and Prayers, Vicki

Have a mentioned what a blessing the reunion was to me. Meeting each of the ladies in person and their families was so wonderful. To meet who I've been praying for in person was such a wonderful thing. Did I mention I screamed really really loud and jumped into the van onto Barbara's lap? LOL! I had tears in my eyes over and over the whole weekend long. You ladies are such a blessing to me. The whole reunion was wonderful. Everyone was wonderful about donating toward the cost of it all which we really didn't need you to do. We received several thank you gifts and cards as well which was totally not necessary but oh my how I love each little gift of love. You are each such an amazing sister. On top of it all, I received such a blessing in getting to work with my dh on planning and setting it up and through the whole weekend he was at my side (minus a few skip outs for the naps he had to have. LOL!) Thank you, thank you can't be said enough to each of you. I love you each so very much and can't wait until the next one when we can meet even more of you. emoticon

Colleen- hugs and more hugs and I'm sorry about the loss in your family.

GGB- AMEN! We actually almost always go out to eat and then go to do the weekly grocery shopping. We are so full we hardly buy anything. LOL! I really need to get better though about freezer meals. Next goal when we return from vacation.

I love all these money saving tips to motivate me in that direction as well as the weight loss. Thank you everyone.

Princess -thanks! I copied your chicken and biscuits idea. DH needed comfort food after me being gone so long. He had leftover rotisserie chicken and I made fresh biscuits. I always have frozen mixed veggies, so it was easy to mix up. I added grated cheese and Tony's garlic mix to the biscuits for a little extra. Actually I grew up on creamed meat and veggies on toast or biscuits. But don't know if I would have thought of it w/o your recent suggestion. He had seconds!!

Thanks again everyone. We have decided to let him stay with his original plans. There was a lot of back and forth, but I think this is the best decision for him. If it were my husband's uncle, I most certainly would have acquiesced to his opinion on the matter. However, since it is my uncle, we both felt it was ultimately my decision. DS has called and spoken to my mother and likes the idea of making a card for my aunt.

I sincerely appreciate your advice, ladies. You helped us make the decision that we feel is best for the situation.

I'm sure I will be back asking for more advice before long.

Huge and blessings to you all!

Colleen - I always think we should support our husband's ultimate decision but it is also our responsibility to share our concerns so that the best decision is made for the child. Hopefully your husband will see that the already made plans for your son would be the best.

Colleen- ok, I have to be the different bird of another feather here :( My first thought is yes let him go the other way and be a kid and not the funeral. The card sounds great. BUT, when you brought into play that your dh wants him to go to the funeral with the family then I have to say it's a wife's responsibility to support her husband, even though you may not agree and go with his choice. If you've voiced your opinion to your hubby calmly that you disagree and your hubby still stands by his decision, then it's up to you to follow dh's choice. Hugs and sorry:( We often times don't know why hubby's make the decisions they do but we have to trust that God is guiding them in their decisions and we follow. emoticon

Colleen- have him send a card with you saying something nice about uncle Henry-

Colleen- I say let him go where he was going as planned. As someone said, he can make a card to send with you to show his respect. He is a kid and needs to have fun.

Thanks, ladies. DH seems to think that he really should be there, but I'm leaning more towards your opinions. Which makes it hard because what do I do when DH and I have two opposing views...who wins out?

Erika - that's a great idea about a card! I think I'll have him do that regardless.

CREATIVE - a $ign!!!
COLLEEN - if it were me I'd let him go to Godmother's as planned since not immediate family or aunt/uncle & since you're going. Maybe he could hand make a card with a picture of a truck on the front?
Hi BORN2BE - great that you have nice neighbors - that will help your new house become a home quickly

Colleen- Tough call. How old is he again?

I have made envelopes for the times of the year when my income is lower. All my change I save for vacation and I will not try to get into it for any other reason.

Hello ladies. I hope you are all well. How is everyone doing on their new goals? Summer is a tough time for me as I love me some ice cream and frozen drinks. Plus my birthday and the 4th are the same week which usually involves dinners out and cookouts...tough to stay on track. I'm doing so-so with this. Fitness has been good though as my husband and I like to hike on the weekends...not long ones, but any walking is good. emoticon

Anywho, I could use some Mom advice from you wise women. My great uncle passed away on Tuesday night. This man was my mom's dad's bother-in-law (how's that for confusing). He was a bright, bright, light in everyone's life. My mother and her cousin (this man's daughter) are close like sisters, and as such I consider her an aunt. My husband and I are obviously going to the wake and funeral. I'm struggling with my DS though. He knew Uncle Henry, but doesn't have a super clear memory of him other than as the nice man who buys him Hess trucks every Christmas (though the last few Christmas he was in a nursing home with Alzheimer, so it really was my aunt that bought them, but they stemmed from his good heartedness). If this were any other weekend I would have him attend the services with us (and very well may anyway) but he's headed to his Godmother's house for a long weekend tonight, and this has been planned and talked about with him and his "cousin" for months now. They are both so excited. Do I disrupt these plans in order to have DS attend Uncle Henry's funeral? Or is he better off staying at her house? To top it all off, DS had virtually no break (one day) between school and camp, and I could see in his face this morning just how exhausted he is, so will bringing him to an emotionally draining event hurt even more? We aren't on vacation for another two and a half weeks, so there's no real down time for DS to get a break until then.

I think it is right for him to pay his respects for Uncle Henry and be there for my mom's cousin (my "aunt") but, well...I just don't know.

Thoughts?

So glad you all enjoyed your get together. I hope soon my life will settle down and I can get to know people better on here.

So glad to be home!! DH says I am never doing this again!! He did not like it when I was only gone 4 nights with the girls on a cruise with my office. And I have to admit I do not like it either. Next week he has to go to Missouri for a week for training, but at least he feels better knowing I am "safe" at home. I have nothing on my schedule right now which feels good. Did anyone plant their sunflower seeds yet? Hoping mine will grow in the Texas heat.

Faylie - all my brothers learned to cook and my cousins too. I think it is so great that Logan is doing this. Getting a good job does depend on who you know. God has blessed Sarah so in getting to know the right people and them appreciating her work. You could just do a unit study with cooking and teach all the subjects. Tell him to do a little research on molecular gastronomy. Sarah does not really want to do too much of that, but it is a very popular trend right now.

DH has always been a firm believer in tithing. He handles all our finances. He believes in giving the full 10% to our church and then supporting other missions and people as we can afford. We do use credit cards for most of our bills as then we get frequent flyer miles. They are always paid every month and no balances. A friend of mine increases her tithe 1% every year and even though she is single and retired almost 20 years, God has blessed her with trips and other things. She says though that she is very frugal in ways some people might not want to be.

Teri - your trip with your DS looks amazing. How sweet of your DH to have cookies and milk and chocolate covered strawberries sent to your room.

Erica - thanks so much for the worry/ pray card. What a nice reminder to carry.

I did not gain on trip. I guess all the walking helped compensate for all the good food we ate!! DH lost about 5 pounds. I need to figure out a really good dinner. One that will include gravy and mashed potatoes!!

Nanamom- my oldest dd found a really wonderful wooden dollhouse at a thrift store recently and is fixing it up. Funny though, she is fixing it up like a Fall/Halloween decorated house. She loves Fall.Says if she ever gets married, it will be in the Fall with a Halloween or Fall theme.

Ds chose cooking as his "extra" class this year. We had done a yr of Spanish, a yr of French and a yr of Norwegian in order to have a fun dabbling in all the languages. This yr we were going to choose a favorite to go with and become fluent in but decided to hold off a yr and do cooking instead. So, I went online and found cooking terminology and fun tidbits and he will create a cook book of his foods for the yr. He will be in charge of preparing one day's worth of healthy well balanced meals each week and is allowed to include dessert if he so chooses. Looking forward to a yummy school year! Think I need to go order him an apron and hat or if I had more time on my hands I would sew one.

NYC is my DD2's favorite place! She dreams of living there. We walked miles when we were there a couple years ago. I hope you have a wonderful time!

My weight loss is not doing well but our finances are better this month. I wish we could get things paid off. We are working on it but saving for the move is slowing us down a bit.

My grandson is my "Sous Chef" It is fun to teach him to cook. I think when these guys go home I will start that with my 2 even though it isn't their career wish.

My "new" project is a old dollhouse my sister gave me. It is one my Mom bought at a garage sale decades ago. I have it sitting on a table in an enclosed porch so I have something to do while the kids are playing outside. Yesterday I put the first coat of green paint on it and painted the stairs.

Hope everyone has a fantastic day.

Hi - I only read down a little ways so sorry if I'm leaving you out - but GOOD MORNING to the whole wonderful bunch of you.

CREATIVE - We've been doing the Dave Ramsey program and finally got everything paid off except house. Sometimes DH gets frustrated because I nix his impromptu spending wants but even he can't argue with the progress we've made. I agree with DADDY'SGIRL that the more we tithe - the more we seem to be blessed. We're not quite at 10% but we're definitely moving in the right direction. We made the commitment to support our former pastor who moved his family to minister to a very poor part of KY. Right after that our new accountant found a tax mistake we'd made for the past three years and that about paid for our Alaska trip.
TERI - so glad you're enjoying some R&R in NYC
JULIE - happy to read of your answered prayer!
GALI - didn't realize your DH isn't with you. Glad you're spending quality time with Sarah & remember, absence makes the heart grow fonder. ;-)
FAYLEI - you're NOT a failure. You are amazingly talented & awesome. Try the 10 minutes of exercise a day streak. I'm on Day 228 and just being committed to 10 minutes has helped me put exercise back on my priority list.
GGB - I like the idea of "air fried" Just got a new oven and will check if I have that feature.
DOMINIQUE - how fun for DH. Well - like eating healthy, spending is similar and about choices. Sounds like you are careful in many areas which allows you to "splurge" a little on this dream. Kinda like when I save calories or work out extra hard so that I can enjoy a night out at a restaurant. Enjoy!

Have a great Thursday everyone.
Erika

Good morning!!

teri- so glad you are having fun with ds. He will remember it always.

Faylei- you have a little chef on your hands. You never know when one of his "creations" makes it in a magazine.

Daddysgirl- so true about the 10%. Some weeks that is hard but when we do it those weeks are so much better. Need to get back to being more faithful in that area. Please say a prayer for that.

We really need to get credit cards paid off, money paid back to family that we borrowed when we got into a really big bind last year.

Teri sorry I missed your post!! What fun you are having. Care to list what you have seen and what you want to see before you leave or in the future. I have been to NYC quite a few times but not sure I care to go back now unless some family wants to go.
Hug your DS and enjoy every minute with him!!

Hello Dear Friends!!
Had a great visit with a dear friend the last 2 days. We never have enough time together but always totally enjoy our visits. WE have been friends for about 29 yrs! How can that been when I am only 21? lol

Creative and Faylei thanks for the ideas that encourage Princess in her adventure.

Faylei glad you can "see" my smiles! Erika told Princess and I she could imagine us smiling as we posted. Yep, we do! You all make us smile!!
A child that likes to cook is a good thing!! My only rule was you had to clean up your mess!! lol

Anjay so happy you are enjoying and "loving" Lamia!!

Barbara still praying the Lord will surprise you by providing for extras in ways you never expect it!!

Ladies the largest thing my DH and I ever did to make our budget go farther was to give the tithe (10 % of income) to our church before anything else. Scriptures says, Luke 6:38
Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.
We saw that first hand and even when DH was unemployed the Lord provided in ways we never could have thought possible. Like building a 550 sq ft addition to our home debt free.
So my advise is to be obedient to God's Word and watch Him provide for your every need!

GGB sometimes plans have to change like that! ;-)

Dee so proud of you for finishing the baby blanket. Can't wait to see it!

Ali hope you have arrived home safely!! ;-)

Vicki sorry you have so many vacancies and ones not paying full rent this month. Praying it changes quickly!

Stacey sorry DH had to make a business trip so soon after you got home. Glad it is Wednesday today!

Erica Welcome! Hope you jump in and make yourself at home! This is a great group of ladies that love their DH's and their children no matter what their ages! Princess is my DD so you can tell I am not a "spring chicken" although I am *not* old!!! ;-)

NanaMom so glad you have been able to add LOH back into your busy daily schedule!!

Dominique you are so right. Setting sights on what you want and saving for it is the way to go. Not having credit cards helped DH and I too. We always paid cash and didn't pay interest for daily needs and weren't tempted to purchase things we didn't have cash to pay for. Congrats to DH on flying lessons!

Kate wish you could work from home. Hope you didn't get a headache!

GGB you are such a great cook. Princess and I are going to surprise you one day and show up on your door step! lol
Air fried sounds great!!

Julie what a blessing!! God is so good! Woo Hoo!!!
Thanks for the new prayer list! I have not forgotten and will update mine soon. Don't have a heart attack when I PM you with it! lol

Hugs and blessings to all!
I am off to bed!!

Hello Ladies!!

DS and I are back in our hotel for the night after more than 12 hours exploring New York City today. We have loved it here. I could never live here but it is a blast to visit. I think we probably walked about 8 miles today. We have been told the best way to experience the city is on foot. But, we have ridden the subway, a taxi and a bus. So, we hit all modes of transportation - LOL! We are here until Saturday. There is still so much we would love to see but know we won't be able to, so maybe we can come back another time.

Best of all is just having this one on one time with my son. It has been such a blessing.

Finances: Ah yes, re-finance the house! When we built our home it was on a 30 year note. Then about 7 years later, we re-financed on a 15 year note and doubled up payments and ended up paying it off in 12 years. We really practice Dave Ramsey concepts. But, I have been very blessed with employment and pay. With DH back to work and bringing in a steady paycheck has also been an added blessing. Our early married years were tough! We learned to save even when we didn't have much. I can still remember my first engineering job after college, I was paid $24,000 a year and thought I was wealthy!! LOL!

I think some of you know this already but I am big on filling my freezer with meals. Like Barbara, I will make up freezer meals that can go straight to the crock pot or oven. We save a lot of money and we eat healthier. As for gluten free, I did cut out bread and have not had any bread since May 1, 2012! It has helped me so much. Even tonight, we had pizza in Little Italy at Lombardi's. I did not eat the crust, and just the toppings and sauce. We had bruscetta as well and I only ate the stuff on top. I really have not missed bread.

Well, I logged on to submit my weekly report for work and finish a homework assignment due by midnight Friday night.

Blessings ladies!!

Teri

7) That I will become more organized in 2013 A work in progress.
8) My neighbors have their little girl. She is beginning to bond with them. They go to court on Friday. Please pray for no complications and things to go smooth the rest of the trip. UPDATE: Everything should be official on Thursday. Then they will need to do paperwork for a passport and visa for the sweet little girl. May be another 2 weeks over there.
9) Ds's knee is doing better. He goes back on June 7th to orthopedic doctor. He has been cleared to play and workout as tolerated
10) Summer income has begun. Please pray for extra income to come in

Julie (Eternalminded)
1) Pray for the salvation of our children, inlaws, and grandchildren.
2) Pray for Lynn’s health. Pray that he can get on the right track.
3) Pray for Adam’s surgery on the 12th – that all will go well and that he will have complete healing.
4) Praise – things are beginning to look up for hubby and his three sons! Pray that relationships will be renewed!

Lori (Sheof3angels)
1) Praises for a fixed and running truck
2) Praise for my continued weight loss
3) Prayers that the Johnson Family can make it to the upcoming Unionation
4) Prayers regarding our financial needs
5) Prayers for me and balancing work, school, being a mom and wife
6) Prayers for focus and success when I start the nursing program

Stacey (Killerbeemom)
1) Pray for my mom. She is still in a lot of pain, recovering from her knee replacement surgery.
2) Also my pastor's father (his name is Kenneth Phillips) is battling aggressive lymphatic cancer.

Teri
1) Pray for my place of employment. Thankfully, I work in a Christian environment where prayer is allowed. We have had three horrible deaths of co-workers or as you see the children of co-workers in the past three months. There is an air of sadness at this time. May God make us all sensitive to these families and to support them as they mourn.
2) Pray for my replacement at work. May God bring a great candidate to the team. I pray for a smooth transition without any drama. I also ask for prayers the transition goes smoothly.
3) Continue to pray for answers to my son's headaches. He is seeing the neurologist on 28-Jan. Hopefully we will get some direction and answers.
4) Pray for my friend who has been diagnosed with an aggressive form of breast cancer. She will be having a double mastectomy in the next 2-3 weeks, then they will determine next steps. I pray she is healthy for the surgery. Right now she is fighting bronchitis.
5) Pray for my friend Ludonna's husband John. He has terminal cancer (from agent orange exposure) and is projected to maybe have one more year. He has dialysis three times a week and is rather ill. I pray God keeps him comfortable and aware of his surroundings. This is his wife's request as well - to enjoy the time left without being drugged to near unconsciousness.
6) Prayers for my brother Kurt who is fighting sobriety. He is not sober and is choosing to drink and drive. I am praying for the safety of others as well as himself. I pray he will call a cab rather than drive. I pray for his wife and three young boys. He has so much to lose at this time but he can't see through it. He thinks he can beat this on his own. I pray his eyes are opened and he seeks treatment and help.

Vicki (GramVicki)
1) Praises that my son in law graduated in May. He was hired on permanently with the construction company. Now they need to learn to budget because they are spending his nice big weekly cks as fast as they get them. They are off food stamps, housing assistance and my dd's SSI was reduced to $45 this month. Thankfully they have no debts besides student loans but many on going bills coming up. Dd does not like it that she has lost control.
2) Prayers that my children will embrace God fully in their lives.
3) That I can sleep better at night. This has been an on going problem for years.
4) For my son, Brian who had back surgery last June 24, 2009. He is in pain again. This was his 3rd surgery. He has such a positive attitude and his little girls just brightens his day. He loves his new job as assistant director of the Plumbers and Pipefitters apprenticeship program. They have a lovely home with 3 acres.
5) Praise God for all four of my grandchildren and one on the way!!
6) Prayers for all my Spark Sisters for peace, happiness and money for all your needs.
7} Prayer's for my sister Cynthia who has Multiple Myeloma. She does not want us to share this with any one. She is on an experimental drug now but her cancer cells are still not low enough to be able to do a Bone Marrow transplant at this time. Please pray for healing. She shared a little with me in May. She told me she was really scared at first but prayed and gave it to God. She goes to Mass daily and has felt total peace since about Sept. She has placed her total self in God's hands.
8) Prayers that we can all find a way to be together next summer for 2nd annual Unionate in Tennessee!!!

money saving tips, well we have always budgeted, and we cook from scratch, we never through foods away but eat them as left overs, I cook dry beans in huge batches and freeze them in cup servings. I am blessed as Wayne can do all the construction on our house, the only thing he cannot do is fix cars he is not car mechanically minded.
Lamia and I had another fun filled day, even though it rained we went to the Museum of Alantic Fisheries, we were able to explore fishing boats, it was very interesting and gave me an idea of what type of boats my son goes on. We then went to a coffee shop where we had coffee to warm up, now we are relaxing and trying to ignore the mosquito bites on our feet
have a great evening everyone

My SIL went to NM to see her mother. While there she saw my stepson - her nephew. He now wants to be in our lives. We have not seen him since before Joshua was born. Joshua turns eleven next month. I cried buckets last night. Pray that he stays in our lives. Now all three sons are reunited or in the process of being reunited with their dad! My cup overflows!
Blessings,
Julie
