I want, even if I don't need, to get my weight back to what it was a year ago at under 175. I gained my usual 12 or so pounds last year from Thanksgiving through the Super Bowl, but for the first time in 4 years, I did not get it back off. Thus, if I pull that again this Holiday Season, I will be 24 or more pounds over where I want to be.

In any case, I made a vow January 1 to exercise consistently for the entire year, and I have kept to that: I am currently taking two short walks at over 4 mph each, two 30 minute spins on my Airdyne at over 17.5 mph each, hitting the heavy bag a few times a week, lifting weights around 4 times a week for 30-45 minutes, and doing hanging abs around 2-3 times a week. I am really happy about my exercising, but I keep asking myself why I don't work harder to get the weight off. The answer is I just flat out enjoy eating too much, and I like dark beers, which I find myself buying once in a while.

The other vow that I have kept with very few exceptions is to eat fruits and vegetables every day. I also eat a lot of whole grain/whole wheat (sorry, not interested in arguing about "wheat belly" and carbs), legumes, nuts, seeds, and lean meats.

Best of luck to all of us to enjoy life and to live healthy.

Really want to get my weight below 200 pounds, I'm getting there. Working on getting my food to be less processed, want to expand my garden to store as much as i can. Raise my own beef, chicken and maybe pork. Master using the smoker. To become physically able to do all the hobbies that I enjoy.

I'm going to expand the garden over the winter. I canned and dehydrated more than ever this year, and plan to continue the trend.

I found a new beef connection, and just sealed the deal on a half earlier this week.

This coming week should be the last of canning apples. The chestnuts and walnuts are really close to harvest.

I'm simply trying to harvest more of my own, or locally sourced foods. Working on making those shelf stable for home and the backpack. That's excersize, fresh air, and clean food as a goal.

There is no bad food, only bad cooks.

This is a great thread I think.

I would like to reach 180 lbs (11 to go...) and be more consistent with my exercise routines. I do own a breadmaker but it gets more use in the winter than in the summer.

I don't eat as well as I could/should.... but I'm aware of it and I know what it will take to change that. While I do eat fairly healthy I don't always eat regularly. I don't normally eat fast food though and when I'm at a drive-thru I'm getting a coffee, not a burger and fries.

I do spend a lot of time outside when I'm not at work, and I play drums in a rock band and a jazz band... so my free time is busy enough but it's what I'm passionate about. Fitness and music.

Mainly though, Greg your start to this thread reminded me that I should focus on setting goals for my fitness, so thanks!

It would be interesting to see what type of a healthy scenario the men within this lounge would present. It could be your ideal weight, exercise program, what would you do for stress relief, types of food you'd eat, maybe some hobby that would help you maintain, where you would live, anything. ........ It may not be realistic, but you can fulfill some of it and use it to motivate yourself.

I would love to live in Patagonia (It would never happen), so I've made the prairie my "Patagonia". My stress relief is my guitar and kayak (and it is). My exercise program is plenty of hiking (and it is). I'd like to reach 165 lbs. (15 lbs. to go). I'd cut out more meat and breads, add more veggies and fruit, and maybe try a glass of red wine each evening. I'd add a couple of vacations a year where I'd travel to hike/kayak. I'd make a simple lifestyle pretty darn healthy. ........ Better then being a couch potato.
