Good health, fighting off the family history, but most important, feeling good about me

for me, it's all about how I feel. After losing 60 pounds, I can fit into some pretty nice clothes and they look good. I can be comfortable on an airplane, even on long flights. I don't get heartburn any more when that used to be a nightly occurrence. I could go on, but the effort was worth it for me. I hope you find your motivation.

The desire to eat, sleep and be merry is a mindset. The motivation to workout, eat healthily and not rot in front of the TV is also a mindset, just a different one. I guess you just need to swap mindsets; perhaps redefine your definition of relaxing and find more active hobbies. It takes a while to change your habits, but it starts with changing your thinking. My motivation was just to want to look and feel great. If you're a long way from that goal, then it's harder to start because you may possibly feel that it's a hopeless mission, but believe me, you can do anything you put your mind to.

Good luck in your endeavours

What you say is what you get!

You just have to suck it up and do it.

Nobody can do it for you- you have to do it yourself. The motivation reasons are there- you need to find it within yourself to actually get moving with better nutrition and exercise.

Start small and build up- walking, eating a little better. Keep adding little by little. You can't change it all overnight. But over a year or so, look back and see how you've changed.

But that will require that first step.

It sounds like you have all the motivation you need. If your weight is impacting your health and your time with your family.

Remember, exercise is important, but watching what you eat is what is going to really make the difference. Make sure you use the nutrition tracker to see where your calories are. Do you handle your own meals, or does your wife handle them? If it is your wife, you will need to make sure she understands what your nutritional goals are, and what you have o do to meet them.

Srdragon, you are going to have to fight to stay on this journey to good health. When you first start you are building new skills and habits (like food tracking, and healthy eating) that will help you along the way to maintain the weight loss. Many people on my job find time to walk on thier break and lunch time to help with their fitness routine. One of the things that I do (that does work for me) is keep emergency foods ready at home and at work that will help me make better choices when I get hungry. I hope that was helpful. Benny

I work shift work and I don't have the motivation or the will power to do anything when I get home. I work very long hours, but I want to try to lose my weight so I can enjoy spending time with my wife and son. I have a lot of health problems but they could be overcome if I lose weight. It is hard to lose weight when all I want to do is eat, rest spend time with my family, go fishing, and work. Can any body offer me some suggestions.
