I've read that folks lose some of their sense of smell with age, and with that goes much of their sense of taste. But sweet, salty, sour, bitter and spicy hot, remain, as they come from the tongue, not the nose. And with that, folks begin to add more salt and hot sauce to meals with age.

Homemade Habanero -- Smoke those peppers, then grind with seeds and pith, mix with chopped tomatoes, cilantro, onions, garlic - cook up and can. Excellent with all meats, soups, and stews. I actually like it best with baked potato.
