Hey Rock Climber2,

I am doing a lot better. It just took lots of time. Its been almost 4 months and still have some pain now and then. I am back to walking about two miles a day. Some days are worse than others but I have been released from docs supervision and told I can return to what ever I would like to do.

I do a good bit of fourwheeling and I can feel it in my calf still when walking on rocks. So I just go a little slower now.

One strange thing is I can no longer walk on a ruberized track. After two laps I can feel it. I can walk all day on concrete and asphalt.

Ouch,
Hope you recover well and can get back into the swing of things. Never had that happen to myself. I would have to say listen to the orthopedic, next time you go back have dialog about your findings on the net. Or you could get a second opinion. Good luck.

Listen to your doc. If you don't trust the advise get a second opinion. I'm not sure seeking medical advice on a message board is a wise decision but...

Start with rest then slowly stretch...if you feel pain stop.

So 7 days ago I tore my calf muscle playing tennis with the wife. I visted the doc and he sent me to an Orthopaedic. The tear is about 3" long and was measered using an sonogram. The Orthopaedic put me on rest and I was given a boot to wear that immobilizes the ankle and calf.

From most everything I have read on the internet says I should be using and stretching the calf not immobilizing the calf.

Anyway my question is any of you guys ever suffer a torn calf? What was your treatment? Anything I can do to speed up healing?

Thanks
Ray
