My 2 youngest sons both do yoga. They are both very athletic and fit, and both love it. Middle son plays lots of sports, and he says that yoga is a great relaxing stretch after a sports workout, and that it helps to calm and focus his thoughts.
Youngest son is too little to comment on the benefits of yoga (he's 3 1/2), but he does well with it and I've noticed an improvement in his ability to focus as well.
Eldest son does Qi Gong (related to Tai Chi, with less movement and more still poses). He seems to get the same benefits from it that the younger 2 boys get from yoga.
I am hopelessly bad at yoga, so I can't really speak to it. I'm flexible enough to tie myself in knots, but I can't hold the balance in the wide-stance poses, and tend to knock other people down in yoga class, so I stopped going.
