Like I said earlier, it all depends on what the couple has decided is appropriate. If strip clubs or porn are okay, then this movie is also okay.

For my part, I don't go to strip clubs or watch porn and don't think they're okay in my marriage. They just aren't my thing and IMO they, albeit indirectly, say to my wife "your not pretty enough" or "you're not sexy enough"; which is something I never want her to think for a moment.

I get more than enough "benefits" w/o Channing, so I have no need of his assistance. :-)

I'm not a dude, but here's my thinking on the subject.

Number one, it's just a movie. My husband actually bought it for me when it came out on DVD because I wasn't able to go to the theater and watch there.

Number two, if a guy gets angry over this movie, he has issues. It's no different than him and his friends drooling over chicks in a strip club. Actually, it's better, cause Channing Tatum isn't actually three feet from their face.

Number three, if the man is reaping the benefits, and the woman is not out stalking Channing Tatum, he should shut up and thank his lucky stars that Channing Tatum had the idea for this movie.

Much like I did. :)

Amanda ;)

I'm pretty sure I know why my husband went through a phase where he watched Tomb Raider over and over...
And I know why I don't mind watching the new Bond movies one bit.

The Avengers did look pretty good- haven't seen that one yet though. Maybe a good one for weekend pay-per-view.

Wouldn't care an ounce. In fact, I'd encourage it. Get her out of the house for a bit.

Yeah the only real-life experience I've had with a male dancer present was at a friend's bachelorette party, in her home. All I can say is, he was no Channing Tatum. Whether I thought my man would be mad or not never had a chance to enter my mind, I hid in the kitchen for my own sake. What a weird night.

Haven't seen it. The women here at work made a party out of it and after seeing the movie they went to a male stripper joint where they then discuss the book 50 shade of grey, LOL!

My gf was suppose to see it at her girlfriends house on pay-per-view but opted out thinking I'd mad. I wasn't nor did I tell her I would be. This is from the woman who me to female stripper bar two years ago and then proceeded to buy me a lapdance with an amazon of a woman who smothered me with her breasts, hahahahaha!!!!

It is not okay for an alcoholic to get drunk once in a while.

So do not tell a food addict it is okay to eat like sh*t once in a while

And now forever linked with Chris Farley and Patrick Swayze, making them doubly hilarious.

I may be off base here, but it looks like the Chip N Dale stripper thing on film. Women have enjoyed it for years, and, my experience is, guys grit their teeth a little when their wives or girl friends head off to a girls only evening that features them. But they live through it.

Haven't seen it, have no interest. Read the reviews to see what all the hype was, all the ones I read said the same thing; shaky plot used as an excuse for lots of mostly naked dudes with six packs. So as far as I'm concerned it's no different than going to a strip club or something similar.

IMO, it's up to the couple. The argument that it's just a movie doesn't hold, porn is just pictures and a strip club is just a bar with women that you can't touch but it would bother many women (including my wife) if their husbands/boyfriends partook of them.

For my part, I never had to care as my wife had/has no interest in it. Though it would have bothered me if she did go see it without talking to me first, I wouldn't have been threatened by it but it would be very disrespectful IMO. No different than if I went to a strip club would feel disrespectful to her.

Good point. Motivation is great- but I wonder where that line gets crossed, from motivation to causing insecurity. Guys are sensitive when I least expect it.

I know I'm way late to this conversation and it's all been talked about. It's interesting though to me to see the tables flipped. Maybe that unrealistic standard has been there all along for guys and I just have never paid much attention to it. Do guys see Channing Tatum or Ryan Reynolds and beat themselves up? I somehow doubt it. I'd never expect my husband to look like those guys, so I guess I won't have to worry that he expects me to meet a body type that isn't mine, either.

Doesn't bug me at all.

I prefer to think of movies like that as good motivation to stay in shape!

This is just one of many like it - there will always be a Magic Mike movie out there.

Like they say on Jerry Springer - if you ain't takin care o' bidness, they gon' find someone who will.

Gents - take care of business!

I haven't seen magic mike and I have absolutely no interest in ever seeing it.

My fiancee hasn't mentioned wanting to see it, but if she did I wouldn't mind.

I just wanted to ask:
Have any of you guys seen 'Magic Mike' and what did you think?
Did you feel at all jealous by your wives/girlfriends wanting to go see it?

Just an interesting question to me... I only saw it this past weekend and wondered how dudes felt about it. Is it threatening? Or is it nice to have something out there for the chicks, that helps offset the stuff that guys enjoy (that you usually pretend NOT to enjoy, unless we're not around...)?

I read threads on a women's forum sometimes- centering around the reaction that comes from a wife busting her husband enjoying his solo manly pursuits. Yet there are threads drooling all over 'Magic Mike'... double standards? Or do you guys just not care?
