I used to be a caffiene freak. When I was the manager of A Golds Gym I would drink 2 to 3 American Bodybuilding Speed Stacks a day. Started to get a ton of headaches so I switched to pop and have lowered it to one pop a day. Diet Pepsi

I used to drink a LOT of Diet Pepsi when I was in college, but now I have it mostly when at a restaurant and maybe a big fountain drink from the gas station every couple of weeks if I've had a long day or if I have to pull the rare all-nighter for work or school. A full-time job and a full-time course load has made sleep a rare commodity. This past week I've had 2 or 3 20 oz bottles to stay awake during class (midterms are tough this semester), but I've been trying to stick to hot tea and water mainly. Once the weather warms I have a feeling I'll crave more soft drinks.

I would drink a 2L a day(Diet Dr. Pepper) way back when. When I started to track sodium, I realized it was time to back off of diet soda. Besides, ever see what soda does to a nail over time? So it's flavored tea, crystal light, or water w/lemon for me. I may have a soda on occasion, but not like before.

MATTDEL: That's good your cutting back. Just keep it up and before you'll know it you'll be down to 1-2 a day. I'm sure the full effects of aspartame won't really be out until 20-30 years from now when there is an overwhelming amount of data to look at. There are a lot of skinny people that drink diet too, so it will be interesting to see their health stats compared to overweight dies soda drinkers. Maybe try adding some lemon juice or lemon wedges to your water. That might help a bit. I've also read that lemons are pretty hard on the enamel too cause of the high acidity of lemons, but diluted in water I wouldn't think they would be as great. Also try putting some cucumber slices in your water. Cucumbers make the water taste really refreshing and crisp. Even adding a teaspoon or less of Crystal Light would help make it taste better for you.

Actually. 4-8 a day is cutting back for me....I use to drink a lot more. I am trying to wean myself off of it and drink more water. I am not a fan of water, and I normally only drink(drank) soda and beer. I now only drink beer about 3-4 times a year. No real reason other than paranoia about getting a dui, and there is no question about it if my daughter is riding with us, I let the wife drink if she wants.

Wow, 4-8 diet soda's a day?! Up to 4 Liters a day! That is a lot of soda! I don't think having a few a week is all that bad, but this is way too much in my opinion. I drink diet soda on occasion, but stick to water. Water is what I drink 90% of the day. I have about 8oz of coffee in the morning, water all day, water when I get home, 8oz of milk with dinner and if I'm still thirsty I drink more water. I do like V8 Fusion though. That is what I mix my whey protein with. I do drink alcohol, but in moderation and have been abstaining with my wife through her pregnancy. She seems to appreciate it because we both love a red beer or martini (for her) and scotch/whiskey for me. Aspartame eat away your enamel more than sugar I've read. Fact is, it's an artificial chemical. There is no such thing as a safe artificial chemical. Especially to the tune of 4 liters or 8 12oz cans. Have you guys tried cutting back slowly to get your consumption down?

My favorite drink is sugar free pink lemonade, the powder you add to a jug of water--use the cheapest kind I find. Diet coke is my pop of choice, though I don't drink much of it anymore.

I do have to say that I can not give up my Diet Pepsi. Trying to cut back, but that is the first thing I drink in the morning and I'll have anywhere from 4-8 more during the day- I don't drink coffee or beer, quit smoking a few years ago, and I don't gamble...so I need at least one vice.

Drinking diet soda makes me crave other sweets, it seems. And it's loaded with sodium, mostly. I drink water. I always have my Camelbak with me. Jeff

Has anyone else read the articles about drinking diet soda and the possibility of increased risk of stroke? What is your favorite healthy drink. I would have to say that mine is V8 Fusion.
All things in moderation, That's the way to go!
