You may still occasionally get chaffed even with the shorts, but I do recommend medicated powder. I use the Target brand, Gold Bonds is the name brand.

I still wear shorts under my jeans if I am going anywhere where a lot of walking is going to be done.

Boudreaux's Butt Paste can usually be found in the baby section at drugstores, Target, etc.

As a quick fix, you can also try a quick swipe of deodorant.

Yeah, this happened to me a lot when I was younger and baby powder worked perfectly. Problem was that it was a little messy but ... it worked.

Baby powder works wonders.

I have six-pack abs. They are just in a cooler at the moment. - Me

The best is Boudreaux's Butt Paste, invented by a pharmacist in the small town near my home

Didn't know about compression shorts. Where do you find them?

As an avid cyclist, I have used a product for sore spots in the past called butt paste. It works well.

I asked my Trainer and he suggested:

1) switch to jogging/workout pants
2) use some deodorant or baby powder in-between

I have been wearing neoprene shorts under my gym shorts, which I guess are the same idea (if not the same thing) as compression shorts...before that I'd have alot of trouble with chafing, esp on the treadmill.

You sweat like crazy in them so I'd probably up the water intake a bit more after working out in them

Glad to know I'm not the only one. For a minute there I was thinking that swimming was going to be the only exercise I would be able to do.

Heck no - you are definitely not the only one.

I agree with the advice above - compression shorts and Body Glide are great solutions.

And if you feel a bit self-conscious wearing compression shorts while carrying some extra weight (and you would not be the only one with that issue either), wear them under some regular exercise shorts.

Yeah, I just found a place nearby that sells body glide. I didn't even know it existed. That and boxer briefs and I'll be getting in some good, and comfortable cardio. Thanks everybody.

I feel your pain... both are correct... compression shorts to help with sliding, or body glide on the skin, have worked for me.

Have you tried using compression shorts or boxer briefs? I used to have that problem when I wore briefs but when I switched to boxer briefs and compression shorts, the cloth between my thighs kept them from rubbing together.

The under armor boxer jock underwear are really nice for exercise, they don't ride up and even if they rub together, it's the material instead of your skin.

Hey guys,

I am a VERY heavy dude, and I've been trying to go to the gym regularly to get the weight off. My problem is, when I walk on the treadmill or do the elliptical machine, the friction of my thighs rubbing together causes a really irritating rash. Am I the only one with this problem. If not, does anyone have any advice for me?

Thanks a lot.
