I too live alone and have been with SP 2 weeks now. I'm still at the point where I am trying to use up what's in the house (I eat out a lot so it's taking time). I have a lot of those HELPER meals (tuna, hambergur, etc) but when i look at the #'s I end up stuffing the box back in the cupboard and grabbing something else.

I am getting to the point where I am about ready to chuck it all and start over the SP way but I am not quite there yet.

During the week I'm lazy and have Weight Watchers frozen meals with extra vegetables - nice and easy and it's just a plate and cutlery to clean up!

You might want to look into once a month cooking - they have decent recipes that freeze well.

I would make a big pot of lean meat stew with lots of vegetables and eat with with either brown rice or wholewheat pasta..

Well pack it up in boxes in one serving size so when you are hungry just microwave it=)

I buy the individually frozen fish filets from the freezer section. I can do those on the grill or toaster oven and they come out great. I also do a lot of big cooking and portion it out for the week.

A lot of times (such as tonight) I will stop by the store on the way home and get a pack of chicken or pork chops and have dinner for me and the kids tonight and leftovers for tomorrow. If you like to grill, throw some asparagus on there. It turns out great.

I'll second (or third) the chicken. I go even lazier and will get the Perdue strips that I can throw in or on anything. A salad for starters, and I'm a huge rice fan. So some black beans, brown rice, chicken with some curry powder and red pepper and this is a tasty, low calorie very filling meal. I'd say I do it at least 2 nights a week. I will also do a batch of something on the weekends (as mentioned). Chili is a good one, you can make a huge pot (use turkey instead of beef) and it will last 3 to 4 meals.

I will admit though, I haven't deviated a ton from when I started this. Fortunately, most of this food suits me fine. Every now and again I'll get a hankerin' for something different and will try sparkrecipes as a base and then doctor it to my own tastes (which usually means spicing it up).

If if's and's and but's were candy and nuts, we'd all have a wonderful Christmas.

I'm single too and it is really hard not to fall into that trap especially when you have been working all day and you just don't feel like cooking when you get home.

I agree always keep skinless boneless chicken in the freezer you can't go wrong with seasoning those and throwing them on the grill or broiling them with some veggies. I also agree that if you can you should cook a bunch of something like chicken or fish and then separate them into single serve containers right away and you have meals for the rest of the week. You can get pretty creative with spices and seasonings and stuff.

As far as sandwiches I just discovered those "slimwiches". Check your local grocery store for them in the bread section or deli section. They are round pieces of bread that make perfect sandwiches and they are only 100 calories. I didn't think I would like them but they are pretty good and filling. I think the brand is called Arnolds.

u need to batch cook
u need to learn how to cook in big ammounts and munch on it the rest of the week
or also u can like me the following idea
skinless bonless tenderbird chicken breasts
and get the new ziploc bags where u can put the breast in the microwave inside the bag for 8 mins and get a yummy low fat high protein chicken breast and u can season it before microwaving it with whatever u like

ideas like that should really be time saving
low calorie
and high nutrition

I try to keep it pretty simple on weekdays since I don't have much time to cook. I'll usually just cook up chicken, ground turkey, or fish...things that I don't need a recipe to make. If I don't have time to cook, I'll usually just have tuna fish or a frozen Healthy Choice meal.

On weekends I like to grill outdoors or I might get a little more adventurous and try something from SpareRecipes.com. I usually adjust the recipes to half or a quarter of the numbers of servings.

Also, make sure you have lots of healthy snacks in the house. Things like yogurt, cottage cheese, and nuts really help me from having any cravings for bad snacks.

Okay so I'm a single guy who lives by himself. Every time I go to the grocery, I end up getting the same crap. Stuff that's just easy to make, easy to clean up, doesn't take a ton of time to prepare, etc. To give you some examples, I'd just toss some refried beans and cheese into a tortilla and make a burrito ... maybe with some chicken if I had it. Or sandwiches ... I was a BIG sandwich guy. I'm trying to cut back on those because I don't want to eat as much bread as I was eating and because despite knowing better, I tend to use mayo instead of alternatives.

Anyway, point of this thread is ... how many of you are just on your own and not having food cooked for you or cooking for others? What kind of things do you throw together for dinners and lunches?

It's really hard to motivate myself to actually prepare and cook a meal when it's just me so I go for the quick meals. Anyone else?
