When you 100 get watts of light and only burn 24, why wouldn't you? GE has subsidised the price of their bulbs so a pack of 5- 100 watt bulbs sells for about $15. You can get them at Ace Hardware.

I've only experienced the delay with older bulbs.

LEDS may have to be replaced if enough current flows through them. Otherwise, they should last for a long time.

Yes, I am waiting for the LEDs they are making advances in that technology. I think these will be the lighting of the future.

Actually CFLs have been around for years. They are more efficient, but it takes some getting used to the more harsh hue of light. Be aware too that they contain Mercury, so at end of life, there is some bad stuff going into land fills. They now have LED bulbs available. I know I saw some at Costco that where not too outrageously priced, and they never have to be replaced.

Make sure to buy good quality - they are expensive and cheap might not be good.

Also, look to your utility - they may have deals on rebates etc.

I don't like them. Many of the ones I have burnt out quickly.

Also they dont work with dimmer switches.

I have them in the areas of the house where the lights are on the most. They seem to last forever. And they consume a LOT less energy. We have one in a nook in the hallway. It's on all night. Kinda like a nightlight. It uses 3 watts. Not ideal to have on all night, but it replaced a 15 watt bulb. I can live with the minute or so they take to warm up.

Summary, I like them.

These are great, really save a bunch of energy, if you need instant on they are not always so good. I have found their use great in the bathroom, early morning wake up and not getting blinded but allowing time for your eyes to adjust is nice.

Chicken and Vegetable Satay (Chef Meg's Makeover)
Submitted By: CHEF_MEG

Chef Meg lowered the fat and calories in this member-submitted recipe, which contains two servings of cooked vegetables per serving!

Lean chicken and a rainbow of veggies are hiding under a tasty, tangy peanut sauce. This is a great way to get kids to eat their veggies.

For a complete meal, serve with brown rice or rice noodles. Don't forget the chopsticks for the kids! It's a great way to teach hand-eye coordination. Slip a rubber band around the top to help them get started.

If you're watching your sodium, reduce the amount of soy sauce, but keep in mind that it will affect the balance of flavors in the sauce.

We used all-natural peanut butter for a fresh taste and healthy dose of real nuts. Chef Meg served hers over rice noodles (95 calories per half-cup serving), but you could also serve this with brown rice. Full Recipe
