I'm on my 14th day of the shred! I skipped level one, because I just got overly ambitious, so for 14 days straight (except sunday as my rest day) I've done level 2, usually at 6:30am. I'm hypoglycemic so I take 600mcg of Chromium after every workout to keep my blood sugar levels from plummeting during the day. I'm full of energy now, my legs and butt are firmer, my arms are slowly building muscle, and my stomach is.....well. I carry most of my weight in my stomach, and it can still use some help. The fat on top of my abdominals is okay, it's the fat underneath that needs help. But anyways, I'm not paying attention to the scale because I don't care about my weight. I want to lose fat, not weight. Going from a sedentary lifestyle to intense workouts will cause your body to retain fluid anyway, also the time of the month for women will affect the scale, so I'm not paying attention to it, and neither should you!!

I am doing the beginner 30 day shred that recently came out. 1st 3 days I did level 1, today level 2 (which I liked better) so I am either going to alternate those 2 or stick to level 2. Probably every other day, depending on how I feel.

I did the whole 30 day shred last summer and I have to say it did work. I wouldn't say I was shredded but I got pretty toned and felt great. It's not easy doing it every day and watching the same thing over and over does get old but just keep telling yourself its only 25 min. I also tried to do 20-30 min of cardio a few times a weeks as well. I'm a full time working mom so I don't have a lot of time to exercise so that's pretty much my go to for working out. My kids do it with me sometimes which is hilarious! Oh and I noticed that I really had to incorporate a good diet cause it's only 25 min so I had to be kinda strict with everything to get the full affect. It did work though. Not sure if this helps or not.

I've never lifted weights exactly, but I have been lifting a 20 pound daughter for a year! Seriously, though, I have five pound weights that I have always used, and the Shred made me want to weep after using them. I did day 8 today and I can't say that it's EASY but I can do it.

Hi y'all - I finished my third day of level one and I am SORE. For the last couple of months I've done regular quick walking about three times a week and I did a Facebook ab challenge (where I built up to 160 sit ups, 120 crunches, 75 leg lifts and a plank for a minute and a half) - if I had not done any of these things I would still be on the floor weeping! emoticon I really like the workout though and am looking forward to getting results. I need to get a measuring tape to get my measurements (yay?) and I have promised myself not to get on the scale for a week. I'm so looking forward to hearing how things are going for everyone!

I just finished day 1. I´m pretty out of shape but I was able to follow it. I also started the Couch to 5k (C25K) program today.
I hope to see changes in my body, I´ve always been chubby and I know that I won´t be able to llok like a supermodel because of my body type but I´m aiming to toned and healthy. I hope to lose 20 lbs. If I do I will be extremely happy

Yesterday night was my first time trying level 2 since I don't feel any sores nor do I need to take break during level 1 training. Wow level 2 is abit of a big step up. I didn't feel any sores (I run every other day and work my upperbody with ab wheel/roller everyday so no sores for me) except a little bit around my ankle, but I sweat alot more and I needed to take breaks at least twice. There is so much more thrust with your entire body. I can see why people will give up or skip level 2. But I'm going to stick with it for another 8 days because it will definitly get rid of those big flabs.

So my advise is don't start doing level 2 until you absolutely don't feel any sores after working out with level 1 and didn't need a break.

So glad that I stumbled on this post, I hope we can keep it going!

Today is day 5 of The Shred for me and I'm feeling great. I had two babies in the past 19 months and am so ready to get back into shape for myself and my family. I have about 70 pounds that I want to lose and am determined to do it this time.

I am loving the video and looking forward to my workout everyday. I'll be staying on L1 through day 10, then move to L2 on day 11.

So excited to be on a message board.. Probably the support and accountability I need. I'm looking into the 30DS.. was gonna buy it but my friend said she bought two so I can have one. EEK.. excited.
I'm 36, I've had 6 babies most recently twins in Jan. I have never been so unhappy in my body. I've recently learned I have a gluten intolerance as well which isn't helping. Figured an all over lifestyle change was needed. Loving the reviews and comments abt the 30DS.
I'm 5'8" and teetering 178. My 15th wedding anni is the end of next month and first ever out of country mission trip in Dec. I cannot go with my current body shape.
Keep me on task friends..!! Keep the comments on your workouts coming cuz it def helps us newbies. :) Thanks!!

PS opinions on branch chain amino acids for the soreness??

For a month, I used green coffee bean 800mg a day with 60 minute jog every other day. I lost only about 15 pounds and lost 2 inches. I started JM30 with 30 minute jog every day for 6 days. Although I lost about 2 pounds within 6 days, (pretty standard weightloss with pill and 60 minute jog) I lost 2 more inches! In short, I lost 2 inches in 6 days compared to 2 inches in a month of 60 min jog. I've only been doing level 1 but I'm going to move on to level 2 tomorrow because I don't feel any sores.

I'm 5'1" tall, female, age 29 and currently weigh 160

Lulucally, I did the videos every other day. I find that my body recovers better (and burns calories/tones up more efficiently) if I don't do the same thing for consecutive days.

Okay, so yesterday I did day 5 after work. Thank you VRYBLUANGEL for the encouragement!
This morning I was still pretty sore, but I did a 2 mile walk/jog with the dogs and completed day 6!!!

DRAGONFLYGRL68 - I agree with you that 30 days is a long time to go without a break. But I have heard (at least for running) that you should take a break after the third day. Does anyone have advice on how many days we should do the Shred before we take a day off?

I've done this workout off and on for the last few years and it is a really good workout. There is one thing always in the back of my mind with these types of workouts that bothers me though. I've always been told that you need to give your muscles a day off between workouts. All of these types of workouts suggest you do them every day with 1 or 2 days a week off. Can this really be good for your muscles? I'd just like to know if anyone else has this concern?

This morning I ran 3 miles, then walked the dogs 1.5 miles. Then after a 10 minute break I tried to do the Shred (day 5), but I just couldn't move. Should I skip today or try to do it in the evening, after work?

Hey SUZIPAM1 - You can buy the DVD or just look for the videos on YouTube. Killer videos. They have the DVD almost everywhere. I got mine at Barnes and Nobel. But some Walmarts, Kmarts, Target, etc.

Good luck. I hope you do it. I am on day 4 and she really kicks my but!

You can do it!!!! It gets easier trust me! You will start to enjoy it. I'm thinking about upping my weights fr some of the exercises like the chest flys, I don't feel them doing anything, but the squat and press kill me, although now I can get through them. Before I would have to put my weights down half way through and just do it without.

Hi MANDALM,
I am on day two. It was really hard today. I think the stepper is a good idea. As long as you are getting your heartbeat going, it's a good substitute.

Do you like the kick boxing one? Which one do you like better?

Ive been doing the 30DS for about a week and a half now. I love it! Im on level one, and I will be for a while. I am not comfortable with the push ups, the jumping jacks and jump roap (anything with jumping really), so i use my stepper and do step ups. (i know this isnt part of her program, but Im working on it). I am hoping in a week or so I will get to the point where I am comfortable having my body bouncing all over the place LOL. I love her DVD, i tried it on youtube first and then went out and bought it along with the kick boxing one.

Has anyone ever doubled up on 30 day shred? I did level 1 for the first time and sweated, feel it, but feel like I want to go back and do it again. Might try level 2, although in the moment, 1 seemed just fine :). Just curious if anyone felt like there were quicker results with more than one workout a day?

Decided to go back to my JM roots where my weight loss journey began! I got burned out on JMBR as it was round 2, I just lost interest in it. This morning I got up and did level one of 30DS along with level 1 of 6 wk 6 pk. after an hour I was pleased with the calorie burn of 478!! I would really like to stick to this, hopefully I won't have any issues and the time won't be so consuming in the morning so I'll have time to get both in before work!

Hi, I haven't tried the shred yet, but her kickbox fast fix is a BEAST. The first night I tried it I was dripping with sweat but I enjoyed every bit of it. As soon as I was done I felt every muscle in my body. I alternate with her killer abs which is truly a killer its not as fast as the kickboxing but I like it. Give it a try it might be what your looking for. Hope I was helpful good luck.

I have only been walking briskly for awhile. I have scoliosis and as a result I have very poor back and stomach muscles. On top of this I have very very weak knees that buckle quite often. I know these have been excuses for me for quite some time. I have no strength and I am wondering if this is something that I can do. I have watched part of it. I want to be able to commit to a workout and not give up. So with that said, is this recommended for a true true beginner with very little if any strength?? Thanks for your advice.

Yes, I'm still shredding, just not keeping up online so well. I'm on level 2, doing it 4 days a week, with tennis or jogging on off days. I'm getting ready to move to level 3, but I really want to conquer all those plank moves before I do! I do Anita's variations, and still can't quite get through all of them without stopping for a breather. Getting close though.

It's great to know you all are doing the Shred. I enjoy having the company and hearing of your progress!

Has anyone signed up for Jillian's program on line and do you find it's worth it? I'm just tracking my food and improving what I eat and portions and time of day.

Holy cow! I did day 1 yesterday. I couldn't do everything. I didn't use weights cuz I don't have them yet. She kicked my butt. I could barely walk after. My leg and thigh actually buckled on me twice. My calves still hurt so much today, but I have been more active today so they are feeling a little better.

I finally got up the courage to move on to level 3. Unlike a previous poster, I didn't find it easier than level 2. In fact, I'm now hanging with Anita again for most of the workout. I did enjoy it, though, and thought that it went more quickly than level 2. Maybe I'm was just getting bored on level 2.

When I first started, I used the 30-day Shred DVD every morning. Now, I strength train 3 days a week and use the 30-day Shred 3 days a week.

Sadly, I had to take another day off of shred yesterday. I went to zumba instead. Hoping this shoulder will toughen up. I'll go for it again today and decrease the weight on the shoulder presses and raises. May be looking for another group as I'm really on my own here. Is anybody else still active?

Day 2 level 1. Not bad. The second round of shoulder presses get me, I have to drop to 3lb weights. I also need the 3lb weights for front raises at the end. Measurements are recorded. I'm ready to see some changes!

Just finished day 1 of the 30 day shred. I'm having to do some modifications during the abdominal portion due to diastasis recti, but I'm anxious to drop this stubborn baby weight. Day 1 wasn't too tough so I hope I'll see the results I'm after. Being consistent will be a challenge, but I'm committed to these 30 days.

I'm on Day 10, L1 today, and I've been doing it off and on for 15 days. It's been hard to keep going even on the weekends, but I feel amazing and have lost 9lbs this month shredding and eating low carb and low calorie, after having gained 25lbs this past semester!

I took before bikini shots and took measurements, so I hope to be able to become a 30DS inspirational before and after :)

Hi Shredders,
I'm starting the 30-day shred again, now on day3 level 1.. I did all 3 levels starting in mid-March, ended up averaging 4 days a week. Didn't lose pounds but definitely felt good, clothes fit better and started seeing muscles in my arms again! Then went on vacation, stayed active walking a lot! Now I'm restarting the shred, determined to do it daily, and to track my meals. Today I weighed myself and somehow dropped 3 pounds along the way! Talk about feeling motivated! A little progress makes such a difference after 3 months stuck at 150. Keep on Shredding!

I have been doing the 30 day shred for 10 days in a row. I really like how quick and easy these work outs are. I was very sore the first 3 days and now not so much. I need to loose about 20 lbs. I have changed my eating habits, increasing protein and decreasing sugar and carbs. I am very dissapointed to have GAINED 3 pounds and I haven's lost any inches. Any suggestions out there???!!!

Hey Elizabeth, I have both of those dvds. My personal opinion is that the Shred is easier than Ripped in 30. The other one (Banish Fat, Boost Metabolism) is about the same as the other two but longer (about an hour). I'll tell you what - my hubby got me Bob Harper's Total Body Transformation for Christmas and it is killer. It is also an hour long and wow, does he work you! At first it's not bad and you're thinking, "Ehh, this isn't gonna do much" but by the end, you can barely move. Of all the dvd workouts I've done, including Ripped, this one was the most challenging for me.
