Try doing some single leg glute-hip raises at home. They work as well as any glute machine. Probably better.

There are lots of different types of gym equipment depending on what brand you use, what your gym has available, etc. It's not really an oversight, just a piece of equipment that we don't have in our list. I will pass along the request for when exercises are added in the future.

Thanks,

Coach Jen

Seriously though, this is a machine in my gym and other gyms that I've been to. It exists! The one at my gym is made by Cybex. You stand up straight and kick back on a rubber lever for X amount of weight. It's not a myth. Neither I nor the OP are looking for a replacement to that exercise, we're asking why this machine is not available as an existing exercise when lots of other ones are. Typing in "glute" gets me three variations on the same type of stretch, but not "Glute Machine".

Is there a way to report this oversight to tech support here? I've been adding it in by hand every time I use it, but it should just exist in the list. Plenty of other things are on there.

Czarina_tv, my comment was directed to the OP (sometimes I really hate the structure of the boards here), I apologize if that wasn't clear.

I also do squats with free weights and on the machine, however, since I'm just out of physical therapy for a hip flexor problem, I prefer to use the machines right now when I'm using heavier weights, but thank you for the concern and advice.

Or you could do squats (starting with just your body weight and working your way up to heavy weights) and work your entire lower body using movements it was meant to do rather than using machines that force your body into unnatural movements.

If you're using the leg press machine to do that stuff, log each exercise separately (squats, calf raise, etc). The reason there isn't a "glute machine" is because you're probably looking for the leg press or leg curl machine; both of those work the gluteal muscle group.

Yep. I've done that for other exercises, but seriously... This is a common gym machine and should just be in the official list. That list has dozens of other machines at the gym, including ones I've never seen and variations on ways to use, say, the leg press machine to do squats on one leg or heel raises. Maybe it's less common in your local gyms, but all three of the gyms I've used since I started using SP have had them, plus my physical therapist's office has one as well.

Can you forward this request along to whomever keeps up that list? It seems like an oversight that you guys should address.

Thanks!

Just further on Coach Jen's post on following the link to add your own exercise - there is an option there to select a check box to add this to your favorites. Then it is available for you in the future.

Thanks for the suggestion. Once you add it once, you can save to your favorites so that you don't have to enter it again.

Hope that helps,

Coach Jen

Could you guys please add "glute machine" to your official list? It's one of the machines I use most often at the gym and it's annoying to add it in by hand each time.

If you can't find what you're looking for, you can click the "enter your own exercise" link right below the search button on your fitness tracker.

Hope that helps,

Coach Jen

I want to add my exercise at the gym on the glute machine, but I cannot find that specific piece of equipment to add to my fitness tracker. I've searched in every way I know how; I've looked under "gym equipment, lower body" and entered "glute" and other words but find nothing. Any help would be appreciated.
