Definitely get fitted for proper shoes if you haven't already.
My boyfriend has super flat feet and has dealt with problems resulting from them all his life. He even had to quit military school because all of the running kept sending him to the hospital for treating his feet/ankles! He has seen many podiatrists & running specialists over the years to no avail and came to the conclusion that he just has to get his exercise in by other means--cycling, swimming, water polo, ellipticals, etc.
Once you've done this, I encourage you to go to a specialty running/walking store. They can properly fit your feet to an appropriate shoe by checking your feet and gait. I have a good friend who runs with me and she has flat feet. She was able to get a shoe that works for flat footed people. I don't remember the brand but even if I did, it wouldn't matter. There are options out there. And her preferred shoe may not work for you.

My feet are flat as a pancake. I use the Dr. Scholl's that you can get with the machine that suggest the best one for you. I got mine at Wal-Mart for $45.00. This may work if you cannot get to a doctor.

I am the same way. I have flat feet too. The only thing that helped me was I went to a podiatrist and got fitted for custom orthotics. I wear them every day now and can't imagine not having them! Some people will say those of us with flat feet just need to strengthen our feet. This is so false. It's often a genetic condition, as mine is. So I would suggest you get orthotics. They are uncomfortable at first and take some getting used to, but I run half-marathons now and never have foot problems anymore. Best of luck to you!
Oh, I also wanted to add that if you are unable to get orthotics due to lack of insurance or other financial issue (my insurance paid 90% of the $400 cost), walking probably isn't going to be your best option for exercise. You can definitely cause some other issues such as plantar fasciitis and shin splints from ignoring the flat feet and walking a lot. You might try something that doesn't put pressure on your feet that way instead, such as elliptical, bicycle, swimming, circuit training, etc. However if you can at all possibly afford it, go with orthotics. I'm still wearing the same set I originally got 5 years ago and they are still fine. So it's a great investment.

I have flat feet, so they hurt easily. I walk about 2 miles everyday about 5 days a weeks and by the time I've walked a mile my feet are killing me. I want to keep up the good work but I don't know if my feet can keep taking this. Advice?
