Ok so I have had heart problems in the past where my heart was beating irregular and too fast. Had a heart murmur. Blah blah. This was of course 8 years ago and I haven't went back to the doctor over it since it no longer bothers me as long as I keep my caffeine intake to 1-2 cups of coffee a day.
However now that I have started exercising more I have noticed that when my heart rate picks up I back off. I finally went and bought a watch with a heart rate monitor so I could check it while working out to make sure I didn't over do it. (Not that I really know what over doing it would be like).
I still suck at cardio. I mean you can really tell I haven't done much cardio because I can barely go a mile. But I am wanting to teach myself to jog. So I have forced myself to jog for a few seconds then back off to catch my breath. (Smokers lungs sucks.)
Anyway! I tell you all this because today after I got done I checked my heart rate and it said it was at 90%. I can't remember what it actually but I think 162 or something.
My question is this... I felt fine other than being out of breath and heart beating hard as you would expect. So am I pushing myself too hard or should this be ok?
I haven't talked to my doctor yet since he takes hours to see. So I was going to check here first.
