If you're doing your walking on the treadmill (as opposed to outdoors) I suggest that you will get a lot more bang for your buck out of increasing the incline than increasing speed. You can definitely increase your walking speed but you will reach your limit of how fast you can walk at some point. Increasing incline is a good way to add challenge without increasing your pace at the same time. I myself have increased both my pace (from 2.5 mph to 3.0 mph) and my incline (from 5% incline to 10%) over the course of about 6 months. Your body will just get accostomed to your current level of challenge and then you can increase either factor the next time.
I've given jogging a try and I think I would rather focus on fast walking.
There are a bunch of programs on the internet to move people into running, but I could not find any on how to increase walking pace.
Do you have any suggestions?
This is what I was thinking: Since I will do some workouts on the treadmill, I will do an 'easy' pace for 2 minutes and a 'fast' pace for 3. Then I'll increase the pace over time. Next I will do the easy pace for 1 minute and the fast pace for 4. Eventually I'll cut out the 1 minute rests and go at the fast pace for 40 minutes.
