wow, can't believe I forgot that one! if you are surrounded by skinny guys in singlets, tiny shorts and racing flats, move FAR back.

Yes, I agree with Zorbs! I would add that since you plan on walking, you should start towards the back of the crowd. And have a lot of fun.

What is the best type of clothing to wear?
technical, wicking clothing. Not cotton.

Is it okay to take your smartphone with you to track your walking via gps?
Yes, but please don't take selfies during the race.

Should I carry a bottle of water with me?
There will probably be 1 aid station, and unless it is super hot or if you're planning on being out there for hours, will not need it.

Hi,

I signed up for my first ever 5K Run/Walk. I will only be walking. I am not ready to run yet. I already have a good pair of shoes. I have some questions on some other things:

What is the best type of clothing to wear?

Is it okay to take your smartphone with you to track your walking via gps?

Should I carry a bottle of water with me?
