The previous poster has given you some good advice. I agree that if the pain persists or gets worse, you'll want to get it checked out. Just make sure you don't try to continue pushing through the pain to stay with your exercise routine, because that could end up delaying your recovery even further.

When it comes to weight loss or even weight gain, what matters most is what we eat. Good nutrition is what takes the weight and keeps it off. Exercise is what keeps our bodies fit. In short, you can't outrun a bad diet with exercise. If you want to lose weight, you need to eat right and watch your portions first.
If it feels painful to even stand on that foot, that's not good. You really should go to your doctor to have it looked at. Any exercise that puts weight on it increases your risk of making the injury worse. You need to lay off for a while.
You will NOT derail any of your efforts at weight loss or long term good health if you stop exercising for a few days. As long as you are mindful of your portion sizes and watch what you eat, you'll be fine.
Could you do yoga ? If your doctor says it's okay, but do you really want to risk making that injury worse trying to exercise when you should be resting that foot ? Now is the time when you'll learn how good your nutritional intake is. And don't starve yourself either thinking you should be eating less because you can't exercise. Your body is going to need those calories to help heal your foot.
Don't think diet at a time like this. Think how the food you eat will help you heal faster.

Hey guys, I haven't logged onto SP in a bit, but I've been keeping up on my fitness goals! I've been working out roughly six days a week (rest day on Sunday) with 3 days cardio and 3 days of strength training alternating respectively. I've been following this schedule since December 2013.
About three weeks ago as the weather was becoming nice, I started running outside at the park instead of on a treadmill at the gym. I was aiming to run outside about 2-3 times a week depending on the weather and everything seemed to be going well. I downloaded a running app which helped me push set higher goals with each run with pace and distance.
I'm sad to say that about 12 minutes into my run today (and yes I stretched beforehand) I started to feel really horrible pain in the side of my right foot. It was pretty much unbearable. Now I can't even put weight on my right foot or walk normally. I think I really must have done something to it. I am icing it now : I am worried this is going to be a damper to my fitness routine. I know I have to let this heal but I am wondering if anyone has experienced an injury like this, or if anyone has any suggestions for exercises I could try while it heals particularly for cardio. My sister is a yoga fanatic and thinks I should do yoga while I wait for it to heal but I'm not sure if yoga is great for weight loss. Any other suggestions/advice would be appreciated! I don't want to ruin all my hard work all because of an injury!
My new promise to myself for 2014 is to forgive myself. If I have a setback, this time I won't give up or call myself a failure. Instead I'll forgive myself and keep going.
Ultimately we're all human and if we keep going when we stumble, we'll get there! Slow and steady wins the race!
