I use MapMyRun. The boyfriend uses RunKeeper. I use the free version, but I think he has the pay RunKeeper version, so it is hard to tell. I believe MapMyRun is slightly more accurate, based on counting miles with mile markers on the trail (of course, it usually gives me slightly more mileage and slightly faster paces on my iPhone than the bf has on his RunKeeper app on his android based phone, so that may be wishful thinking).
Downside? Less of a social aspect to MapMyRun than RunKeeper and you have to pay to get intervals.
Galloway (if you use the run/walk method) has some apps based on his training programs. I have not used them, but they look interesting.
I use map my fitness on my iPod which tracks your distance, pace, calories and stores your routes. I am running my second 5k in a few weeks and I am very nervous because I run alone and there will be a lot of people at the event.
First off, good luck with your 5K! I use Endomondo (on Android) to track my runs and I'm pretty satisfied with it - it tracks distance, calories (you can also track other types of activity, as well, such as aerobics, weight training and so on) and it offers some statistics so you can see your progress. It's free and it's works on iOS, Window Phone and Blackberry too.

I am looking for a new running app....I really started to get into running last year and ran my first 5K but slowly 'fell off the wagon.' I'm looking for something simple to use to help me track my progress(miles, time, calories burned)
Anyone willing to share your favorite running app would be appreciated!
