A little slow getting back here! Fitgers...You must be in Duluth? How'd Color Dash go? I know some people who did that one as well.
And yes, these races are terribly addicting. At least they promote healthy habits! :)
And Fefifo: The glory of a 5k is that it is a great place to start. You see people who walk super slow to the elite runners who are blazing fast. The pace doesn't matter. What matters is getting to the finish line run, walk or crawl.
I say do it. Runners are not judgemental. It's a very supportive and positive community. And it's a lot of fun.

I envy you. I want to do a 5K but as a beginning runner and being 69 years old I know I will have to walk as well a run, but still want to do it. I don't know what I am waiting for. We had a Gasparilla 5K in Tampa but didn't do it. Now it is so hot.....excuses, excuses, excuses. I do Zumba 5 times a week so I know I am able, but keep putting off the 5K.

No, I ran Fitgers 5K. I know a couple people who did the hot chocolate run too! My race was cold, wet, and windy. I finished in 41.13 which is pretty darn good for me :). My next run will be the color dash on the 18th these things could become a habit!!!
I'm in central NY, but I was lucky on all my 5Ks this winter despite some extremely frigid training runs. My January 5K was 40 and rainy. My February one was 30 and sunny. I don't really remember the weather for the December ones, so they must have been relatively warm. I did go out and run some days in the single digits but no races were that cold.
