During those 20 minute periods, keep track of how far you're going. That way you can determine your speed later, and add that workout to your tracker.

emoticon Hi Coach Jen. I don't do a lot of walking normally but yesterday I walked a lot. There were times when my heart rate reached cardiac levels for at least 20 minutes. When I do walk I walk slow at first then gradually get my heart rate up then slow down and repeat this for the whole time I am walking. I wasn't sure if this is a thing I need to track as it is not often that I can do this. Thank you for the help.

Hi Lisa

I would only add something to the tracker if it gets your heart rate up into the cardio zone for at least 10 minutes at a time. If not, then I would just consider that walking to be a bonus to your weekly goals and wouldn't track it as exercise.

I don't do a lot of walking so it is considered extra activity. The problem is that when I add it to the fitness tracker, the tracker asks for the minutes and because I was walking most of the day I am unsure of the minutes. I have a pedometor that tells me the steps and calories burned but it does not give the timed steps. Therefore I cannot work out the minutes to add to the fitness tracker. This is because I walked most of the day. I just wanted the steps to show the calories burned. I will just ask the SP coach next week. Thank you for the help anyway.

For that you can manually enter your own exercise (located under the search button on the fitness tracker), though if this is your normal daily activity, those calories are factored into the category you chose when you set up your nutrition tracker (sedentary, active, etc.) so you shouldn't track them as additional calories burned in your fitness tracker.

emoticon I have done that but it is not what I mean. When you add steps it does not show the calories burned from the steps. I wanted to know how to add the calories burned to the steps I take. The step tracker does not do that.

For what you're describing, you'd want to add the Step Tracker option to your fitness tracker. You can get this by clicking on the "Add Step Tracker" link under the date on your fitness tracker. From there you can set your own goal for total number of steps per day.

emoticon I have a step tracker that shows the steps and calories burned. I walked loads today {9088 steps and 146.5 cals burned}. However, with it being all day what do I put for the 'minutes' in the fitness tracker? I just figured the time I was out and divided the time by 60. Is this right?
