I have checked it manually in the past, a little bit of a nuisance, but not a terrible interruption to the workout. I used the six second count and multiplied by 10. You can get to the nearest five pretty easily that way and it only takes a few seconds.

On the other hand, I have an HRM now, and I love being able to glance at my wrist and see what my HR is.

Maybe look for a used one?

it would be easier to use the talk test to gauge workout intensity, as you have to stop every time to manually check your heart rate.

Its possible right? Just takes a little more effort?

I feel like my workouts aren't quite as intense as they should be, but I don't currently have a HRM to check.

Also, can you get a decent HRM for $40 or less?

Losing weight and getting healthy like its my job!
