My treadmill doesn't have any kind of shelf so I had to make my own. I used a bracket made for hanging over a cubicle wall and attached a small box to hold my ipod. I also attached a clip-on fan and it works really well.

my treadmill has a built in fan and every mill i've ever seen has a small ledge to hold a phone.
