As far as fitness, don't neglect your strength. You definitely want to do more regular strength training as part of your fitness routine. Depending on your goals, 1-3 workouts per week would be sufficient. Think a full body routine over a split. Yes, there are plenty of people who do splits, but if you're trying to maximize your workouts, a full body routine is the way to go.
As far as losing weight, what matters most is what we eat. Good nutrition (and portion control) is what takes the weight off and keeps it off. Exercise is what keeps our bodies fit and healthy. In short, you can't outrun a bad diet with exercise. If you want to lose weight, you have to eat right first and watch your portions.
What you do for exercise depends on your fitness goals. Have you set any fitness goals ? If not, I'm going to encourage you to set one. Having a realistic goal helps keep things in perspective.
Also, your exercise routine should be SUSTAINABLE. that means if you're not used to exercising six days a week, don't start with six days. instead try starting with 2-3 days for a few weeks. Let your body adjust and adapt to the new routine so that your exercise will become just that, a routine.
Doing too much too soon puts you at risk for fatigue, injury and burn out.
