According to the artcile, MEN age 45+ are considered to be in excellent condition if they can do 40 or more crunches.
WOMEN age 45+ are considered to be in excellent condition if they can do 30 or more crunches.
I suspect this test was posted several years ago and has yet to be updated. This is a very basic "test" to see if a person has decent abdominal strength. The problem ? crunches or sit ups really aren't the best test of core strength. We really have learned a lot since this article was written.
These days, more people test core strength with plank. How long you can hold plank is a good indication of core strength and endurance.
