Hi Pushplay - I know how frustrating plateaus can be. Are you drinking an adequate amount of water (1/2 your body weight in ounces)? Also, your cheat meals could be throwing you off track depending on how many calories you are consuming on each cheat meal and how often you are having them. Do you have anyone other than your husband to stay accountable to? Sometimes it can be a little too easy to have cheat meals together when your spouse is the only one keeping you on track (coming from personal experience). Something else to consider is that you may have an underlying medical condition (hypothyroidism, PCOS, etc.) that is making it difficult for you to lose weight.

Hi ladies, I just joined the community. I completed a round of P90X last spring and lost 20 pounds and 12". The weight and inches just kind of shed off of me. My husband and I began P90X again, 5 weeks ago. We switched to P90X3 almost 3 weeks ago. I'm beyond frustrated. I would say that a 2 pound weight loss is a bit liberal depending on the day. I seem to be at a plateau and can't break through. I have seen a very small change in the way my jeans fit, but nothing more. I eat between 1500-1800 calories a day and drink shakeology 4-6x per week. I don't drink it everyday due to the cost. My choices are mainly healthy, with the exception of an occasional weakness. Can anyone recommend a way to jump start some shedding of weight? Feeling so discouraged with all the time put into exercising and eliminating the crappy food to see such minute results so far.

I'm a BB coach as well, and no matter what program you're using you should always start with modification. The entire reasoning behind X3 is that its an hour workout into half an hour! It's for those who say they don't have an hour. The program, even modified, works with a healthy diet! I started the program 5 weeks ago and couldn't get through 15 mins, now I'm doing TWO workouts in a day! I've lost almost 11lbs and 8 inches all over! Don't be discouraged and think you have to do certain prerequisites to the program because you don't! If you have questions message me! But no matter what route you go good luck!!
I'm wrapping up my third week of P90X3 now and it's so great to get my workout done in 30 minutes. The number one reason I used to skip my P90x workouts was...time. Now I don't have that excuse & it's awesome because I'm super committed to doing the entire program. And THAT is what will get me results! Next week is my "transition " week which is mostly a week of stretching, yoga, pilates, and then I start "phase 2" with a whole new set of different workouts. Week 6 or 7 are the weeks that most women start to see results so I can let you know what I experience as well as what the group of women who are doing it with me experience.
I have been using P90X3 for about 2 weeks now and LOVE it. I have been using it with Shakeology and have already lost 11 pounds. It's really been a great program for me because I'm always short on time and it's only 30 minutes long. I still recommend recovery drinks for the lactic acid, especially for the level of work you'll be doing with X because your body will be using your muscle as energy since it's less efficient to make energy from fat. I agree that the pain is caused by tearing but it is exacerbated by the lactic acid. The point of P90 is to work to failure which means a lot of tearing. Why subject yourself to extra pain if you don't have to?
Personally, I recover with something high in potassium when I make my drinks....well smoothies really. It helped out a lot when I was doing P90X. I've experimented with protein shakes for recovery too but found my smoothies helped better.
I just finished week 1 of P90X3! I am doing it with a group of women after work. Some of them have been exercising regularly and some haven't done anything in years. P90X3 is set up for all levels of fitness. If you're a beginner, every workout and move has modifications, and every day is something new! I've completed P90X & P90X2, and you DO NOT need to have completed either to do P90X3. In fact, I think X3 is a great place to start because you don't have to commit to 60+ minutes a day---it's 30 minutes! Yeah, it's hard but that's why it's called a "work" out! Do it! We can compare experiences and root each other on!

Lactic acid buildup is a myth. :) We know now that the muscle pain that is caused by exercise is not caused by lactic acid buildup (which is what causes the "burn" but clears out of our bodies within a few hours) but rather microscopic tears in the muscle fibers. Recovery drinks won't help, because they just need to heal!
Heather Writer, mother, wife, and breadwinner. I love to run, but running doesn't love me, so I'm switching to my low-impact bike.
I haven't tried it but my mentor Beachbody coach is going through it right now. According to the information I got from Beachbody, since I'm also a coach, it isn't so hard that you need to be in shape to do it because of the modifier. HOWEVER, it is listed for us under the "advanced" section for the workouts so I would have to suggest that someone complete P90X or P90X2 and then go into P90X3 because there's A LOT of compound movements.
My coach says that he loves it but there are days that it's a hard. I'm not sure if that's because of how difficult the program is or if it's because he just got over the flu.
My advice, and this is the same that I would tell my clients, if you're not modifying in P90X, or a similar program, except for the pull-ups for ladies, then I would recommend P90X3. I would also recommend some kind of recovery drink because there will be A LOT of lactic acid build up if you do this program.
