I have 6-8 tubes taken four times a year and I've never had it stop me from doing my regular workouts...but caution is certainly the way to go with something like this. I wonder if making sure that you are extremely well hydrated before and after the draw could help with this in the future.
A simple blood draw shouldn't be an issue for most people, most of the time. You just have to see how you feel and slow down if you feel woozy. Donating blood is more likely to cause this sort of thing to happen.
Don't worry, you're not alone. A made a similar mistake many years ago. I thought a short workout on the elliptical (after giving blood) was okay. Well, I think I made it 5-7 minutes before I too felt like I was going to pass out. I learned my lesson.

Yeah, been there done that before (and nearly keeled over). After a blood draw, you should wait at least 24 hours before strenuous exercise in order to give your body time to replenish the volume that was lost.
I came home after a dr. appointment ate lunch, thought enough time had passed and tried to do an exercise video, I made through the warm up and about 7 minutes, then I got really dizzy. I still have to walk to the store, but I am going to walk slow.
