this friend doesn't use a HRM, she just says she is naturally really lazy so running slow all the time during training is easy for her, lol.

her training runs are all around 9:45-10/mile and she runs a 3:34 marathon.

I think that going so slow is the hardest part, I am going to try it again in June after my 50k.

I am reading the book and probably too late to incorporate into my spring racing plans, but I have a friend who is an excellent runner, she uses Maffetone's ideas and has had spectacular success on race day.

bottom line: I've only heard good things about MAF, if you can handle the slow HR training.

Have any of you used Heart Rate Training or the Maffetone Method to train for a long distance? I am training for a 50k trail run and was thinking of using this for my endurance. Thoughts??
