Have you spoken with your doctor about your concerns? You may want to start there. And he may be able to refer you to a physical therapist who can work with to develop an appropriate exercise plan to help you learn how to raise your heart rate within reasonable limits.

I have a very, very noticeable irregular heartbeat and am a bit afraid to raise my heart rate too quickly once starting to exercise. My doctor encourages me to exercise but I don't think he understands how alarming and painful it gets for me when my heart rate is elevated quickly. Any exercise suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
