I agree with a lot of posts here...weights have been invaluable to my weight loss success. The more muscle you have, the more efficient your body is at burning calories. I started with 3 lb weights about a year ago and now do the same exercises with 15 lb weights. After reaching my weight loss goal, having another goal (to build muscle and get leaner) has really helped to keep me motivated!

A small caution if you are considering home exercise equipment: not all machines are worth the money. My BF and I recently purchased a brand new moderately priced ($800) elliptical at a sporting goods store (and payed for the assembly), and we were never able get in more than 20 minutes of exercise without it breaking (bolt holding on the pedal kept popping off). After three calls, they finally took it back, but only because they have a 30 day return policy. Make sure to ask about returns before you buy and make sure to get on it and work out hard so you know if it will last!

Best of luck!

Posted in this thread before, but I just had to come back and share my experiences with Wii Fit!
I had wanted to try the Wii Fit before, but balked a little at the price. When I saw soo many people mention how much they liked it in this thread though I was inspired to look into it again and had the luck of finding someone who wanted to sell a brand new one they got during the holidays for only 50$!

I have to say I didn't like it at first, but once I'd tried a few different things and figured out I had the board backwards I ended up LOVING it. Currently I'm most loving the hula hooping exercise which is such a good workout. I've only used it 3 times so far, but I can definitely feel the difference in my abs and side muscle things (obliques?). Definitely something I'll be enjoying for a while.

My all time go-to is my elliptical, paired with an awesome booty-shaking playlist.
My current favorite is my Just Dance game for my Wii.
I feel like the dances are serious exercise disguised as having a blast.
I actually have to make myself stop dancing so I can get in the shower and get other things attended to.
It's that much fun!

Doing this to enjoy my life, be healthy, energetic and sexy!

I've got quite a bit of stuff and I want more! But I think that my favorite thing is my FitBit. And probably my second favorite is my treadmill. The treadmill is great because if the weather is too nasty to get outside, it is a great substitute...or if I am working late and I don't want to go out after dark, my loyal treadmill is ready to roll! The FitBit keeps me accountable. Based on what many of my friends here on SP are saying, I think that the Spark Activity Tracker must be a good choice too.

Right now it's the Goggle Nexus tablet I got for Christmas; it's helping greatly with the motivation challenge of going to the gym this time of year. I can use the WiFi to stream TV shows I missed, read a book or listen to music... It helps to keep me entertained and makes the workout less "something I have to do" and more "catch-up/me time".

Can I say my dogs? I got two shelties last year and have found they are great for getting to stop sitting on my a**. Every time I go to sit down, at least one will come up to me and start barking at me to get up and play tug of war or to chase her around the house.

My treadmill. I know some people refer to them as "dreadmills" but I love mine. I follow a structured walking program that entails a lot of fast-moderate-slow intervals and I'd never get it right outside. Plus it's (almost) excuse-proof. You can think up reasons why it's too hot-cold-wet-dry-windy to walk outside but it's hard to make up a reason not to step up on the thing that's sitting in the next room. On the days when I'm doing long, steady walks instead of having to concentrate on timing my intervals, I watch old movies on the TV -- perfect.
