With cardio (for weight loss) it doesn't matter how you move, it only matters that you move. Do whatever you like. Spend your hour doing whatever strikes your fancy at that moment. It really doesn't matter - as long as you're moving the entire time. :)

I'm with you. I HATE walking on a treadmill for an hour. Even with music or something to read or watch... ugh.

Switching it up is a fine idea, and has the added benefit of working different muscles in different ways, so I bet you'll burn more calories! Also try adding in interval training as you get more fit; you get more bang for your time buck.

Thanks! I have some time off work, so i actually really enjoy doing a solid hour. I may decrease it to 45 in a month or two, but right now, it works well for me! I'm pretty sedentary the rest of the time!

You don't need to spend an hour on cardio in a session unless you're training for some kind of endurance event. Instead of steady state cardio for an hour, try doing intervals for 20-30 minutes: 1 minute hard, 3 minutes easy (or something similar).

Joined a gym a few weeks ago.

I get bored pretty easily, and if I spend an hour on one machine, I notice myself slowing down drastically.

Any thoughts on doing 4 different machines for 15 minutes each? Eg. rowing, biking, treadmill, and elliptical?

Or, sometimes I do 2 machines for 30 minutes each.

This keeps me motivated, because I usually start off very strong. Any thoughts?
