I know what you mean. One minute your doing great, the next you're not. It's tough getting older, especially when you are used to being an active person.
For me, the calendar says I'm nearly 50, but my brain thinks I'm still 29. I don't recuperate after beach volleyball the way I used to. I can't swim 5000 yards/day 6 days/week anymore. My body can do the exercise, but then it takes so much longer to recuperate. Drives me crazy.
Back pain is a real issue as we age. The muscles of the spine and the supporting muscles of the core just aren't as strong as they were in out 20's. We need to use more tools such as hand carts to carry heavy loads (and even not-so-heavy loads) over distances. We need to listen to our bodies more closely too, especially when they tell us to take a break.
