Your body needs time to recover. If all you do is break it down every day, it will not grow stronger. Keep doing that and you will just become more broken down, the exact opposite of what you are trying to do. You also are more susceptible to injury or illness, which will really take you out of the game. For my recovery days, I usually walk and do yoga. The yoga really helps me throughout the rest of the week and my body starts to feel out of whack if I skip it.

On my "rest" day I usually do a stretching routine and walk or bike for recreation. My area has a nature trail that is great for both. I get back to a quiet state and commune with Mother Nature while taking a relaxing walk or ride.

Nothing tastes as good as healthy feels and looks.

It can sometimes help to think of it as a 'recovery day', where your muscle catch up on repair jobs and get stronger, rather than a 'rest day'.

A lot of people prefer to have light activity days instead of complete rest days. Examples include a walk, yoga, Pilates or other low-impact activity. That way you stay in a routine and don't feel like you did nothing, but your body gets a rest from higher intensity exercise.

I haven't taken a rest day in 2 or 3 weeks. My back is feeling sore and I'm tired but whenever I tell myself to sleep in and relax, I start feeling guilty like I'm being lazy and force myself to exercise saying "you have to push yourself to get where you want to be." While I know this is true I don't want to burn out either. I do 45-60 minutes of Tae-bo daily plus a job on your feet all day. I also go for a 45 minute walk most days. I even feel bad for thinking of taking a day off! What can I do on my rest day to where I don't feel like I'm being lazy?
