Track it if you want or don't if you don't want to. Personally, I track all my steps. I use a BodyMedia but I do not use it's activity calculation; I delete it if it feeds. I strictly count my intentional exercise.
If you don't want to track casual steps then omit them out of your total exercise regimen. I used to omit them but I'm pretty active despite having a desk job career that I just include it all for my FitBit steps~

You don't have to track steps. I don't. I would only track it if you average 10 000+ per day and your activity level is set to sedentary. Otherwise your calorie range is possibly too high because Spark already accounts for light activity. I don't count steps I take during the day, only when I go for an actual walk/hike for 30 mins+.
"Toning" is marketing muscles to women who are afraid if they pick up a barbell, they'll leave the gym looking like She-Hulk. It doesn't happen, what does happen is you get results. Lifting Barbie weights does nothing but waste time.
now that I do in excess of 3000 casual steps on my rest days, surely it is time to omit casual steps from my daily pedometer total? On joining SP I was advised to include ALL steps, not merely workouts.
I'd like to be able to track only those vigorous steps that are part of my workout. I don't want to continue to earn burned calories for casual steps, when I haven't even broken sweat clocking them up.
