I just started kickboxing with boxing gloves on. Don't know how much they weigh, but boy I can feel it.

I wouldn't consider it as strength training. I'm not sure what exactly you are using them for, but I would only count actual strength training (body weight exercises and/or lifting weights) where you are actually training muscle groups as strength training. Some people use weighted gloves for their kickboxing type workouts, but that would be considered cardio, not strength training.

Coach Denise

"Obstacles don't have to stop you. If you run into a wall, don't turn around and give up. Figure out how to climb it, go through it, or work around it." - Michael Jordan

If I use 1 pound weighted-gloves with a workout, that isn't considered strength training is it? I am debating if I can use them on my days off of strength training but I don't want to hurt myself, or not give my muscles time to get stronger if it would be considered strength training. 1 pound just feels so light, like it wouldn't count.
