So would I.... but we can't. That's not how fat loss works. It comes off all over your body. You are genetically predetermined to carry fat in certain areas. We call these "problem areas" and we all have them. Some people carry more fat in their thighs, some in their midsection, some in their bottom and some in their upper body. Unfortunately, we can't choose our body type.

"Toning" is marketing muscles to women who are afraid if they pick up a barbell, they'll leave the gym looking like She-Hulk. It doesn't happen, what does happen is you get results. Lifting Barbie weights does nothing but waste time.

Not gonna happen. -- Your body is going to decide for you. And often the first place you "add" weight, may in fact be the LAST place it comes off.

We are amazing chemical creations. It's surprising that our bodies keep functioning when we do so much to harm them! (ie. the illustration elsewhere that someone gave about peeing into a car's gas tank. Not going to take you far!)

Sadly, you cannot do that. I keep losing weight from my hands and feet, but my belly is still there. It's frustrating. Exactly where you lose weight and when has to do with your personal metabolism.

What you CAN do is build muscle in specific areas of your body.

Coach Jen is correct. We don't get to decide where the weight comes off, genetics makes that determination.

However, I can assure you that if you eat right, watch your portions and get some regular exercise that includes some strength training, you will lose off your entire body with time.

When it comes to weight loss or weight gain what matters most is what we eat. Good nutrition is what takes the weight off and keeps it off. Exercise is what keeps our bodies fit. In short, you can't outrun a bad diet with exercise. if you want to lose weight (any where off your body), you have to eat right first.

The short answer is that you can't. Your body decides for itself where it wants to take the weight off, and there's no way to target fat loss to a specific area of the body. As you lose weight, eventually it should start to come from those areas where you carry excess.
